Default Tire Pressure on 28 x 10.5 MT's - What are People Running?

I'm running 7.5psi on MT 3055's, but haven't done much of a pressure sweep to see what works best yet. I know my Goodyear 26x10's worked best at about 5.5psi and I figured with the additional sidewall on the 28's they might even want lower than that. My best launch so far on the 28's is a far less than perfect 1.44 60'. If some people could toss up what has worked for them I can make a bit of a test plan for next time out when I will start messing with suspension settings and tire pressures.

What have you guys found to work best on 28" tires?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

I was running about 8psi on the 28x9 15 M/T's, after the first pass they would get hot, and go to like 10 , then after resetting them they would stay about 8 all night.

Do you have the tires screwed down to the rim? Cant remember from the pics...

Good luck

Tom

Thanks for the info guys.

I have the tires screwed onto the rims and I chase the pressure build between passes. Have you guys tried lower than 7.5psi? The 26" goodyears didn't even start really working until they were down to 6psi or so, but it is a different manufacturer.

I have also seen pictures of Lummus' and Gardella's cars where the slicks are definitely wrinkled up some as they are sitting still. On 10" wide rims, mine don't do that until the pressure is really, really low.

my car feels really scary at the top end with the tire pressure at 6 psi, it just goes were it wants under braking.

Update:

Got a 1.388 last time out with the tires at 7.0psi. The wear looked good and even across the tire and was on almost dead cold tires. At 7.5psi the outer edges weren't really working, but they are at 7.0psi.

I was at the NOPI race in Leicester, here are some pics on their site:

There are a couple changes since then - that was pretty much the car's debut. I've been sorting out various major and minor issues all year.
