what's the year they started makin v6 accords??
1995 was the first year and it was a 5th gen Accord. They made it with a 2.7L V6 making 170hp and the car was slower than an EX 5 speed of the same year. They made it till 1997 and the V6 only came in Sedan form untill the redesign in 1998. That is when they started fitting them with 3.0L VTEC motors and putting the V6 in both the Coupe and Sedan versions.
Be Careful 98's sometimes have tranny problems... Honda autos seem to be very sensitive to having the fluid changed on a regular basis, you can actually "feel" when it's time to change it again. Shifts get mushy, as soon as you change the fluid it's back to it's usual Honda self. My mom has a 98 and when I was over there the other day I took it out and her auto has a personality all it's own. Does some freaky things but she's only got 60K on it so far... we'll see how it holds up. BTW She went from a crappy Grand Am SE to the Accord EX V-6 with Leather... hehe way to go Mom.
Actually most of the failures in the auto tranny were due to abuse. They had a poll about it on http://www.v6accord.com and it turned out that most cars that had tranny failures had been neutral droped or sprayed on etc.
I'd agree except that my mom's car has been driven by her or me and nobody else. I've even told her the importance of STOPPING before going from reverse to drive, she had a tendency to keep rolling as she did this. Also I told her that she has to wait a couple seconds, as her tranny doesn't engage drive immediately, it's a little delayed, even with her driving like she does (relatively slow) and never EVER having done a neutral drop, her tranny still has a couple of oddities. It just shifts crazy every once in a while, like there is a hiccup in the tranny control module. I'm sure they have gotten better, remember the 98 was the very first year for that engine/tranny combination. Not putting down the Honda's at all but just be careful and if possible get an extended warranty that covers the tranny...Besides when buying used, you never know what the moron before you did to the car.

Umm I dont know, but all I know is that it doesnt fit in my budget, and that my last mod was the Greddy SP. Saving up for bigger and better
I see. But I'm speaking in generalities. If someone wants a 5th gen that would be faster than swapping an H22, the 3.2 Type-S 6-Speed might be an attrative proposition. If it is feasable that is.
hmm I dont think it would work without things done to the car because the 6th gen accord needs to be modified to fit that thing in there.
yeah the intake manifold is too tall and the hood has to be modified to fit it in there. I guess you could get a cowl hood or a hood scoop and make it fit in the 5th gen
yeah it might fit I dont know what they did to the first gen CL to get the J30A1 into it but it is a very tight fit in that engine bay. If they are incresed the same amount it should fit. you could probably even use the mounts off the CL as well
The tightest engine bay fitment I have ever seen was on my brothers' stock 94 Vigor VEST (Canadian trim, camparable to GS I think). That 2.5 I5 is such a tight fit. It took 35 minutes for a mechanic to get the oil filter off.
you should see the engine bay of the new civic si
the intake manifold is practically resting on the radiator. Chryslers have really tight engine bays as well.

Here you go. 94 Vigor I5.

here is the pic of the Civic type r engine bay. The Civic Si's is practically identical to this.

BTW The vigor is infact FWD correct. I have never seen honda put an engine in like that and still make it fwd.

Remeber the days without those stupid *** engine covers?
Yes, the vigor is front wheel drive. The J25 engine is also in the 1st gen 2.5TL which is also front wheel drive. If you look hard enough, you can scavange some parts from the Vigor and 2.5TL into an Accord.

yeah those one peice headlights look nice. As for the engine covers sure they may make it harder to get to the peices of the engine but hey when you pop the hood for someone else to check out it sure makes the engine look nice. I love the way the Accord V6 motor looks with its engine cover.
