rear upper strut bar install
ive searched honda-tech for a while now, and no luck. i got a 3 piece set from ebay. i looked around my trunk and folded down the back seats and cant really figure out where the bar goes. i noticed that there is some panels on each side of the car when the back seats are folded forward. im not sure if i have to remove those or not, or if i have to cut into the plastic. just searching around, i also noticed that there might be some sort of templates available, but im not sure if there is any for my car. i couldent do much since i got home way to late to do anything. i know that the bar wont do much but i have it, now i want to install it.
any help will be appreciated. pictures will also help...thanks.

Go in to the back seat of your car, anmd fold down the deats. on the left and right hand sides both, will be 2 humps in the carpet, just behind the seats. Look at the photo below......

See the hump I am talking about? I can point it out in MSPaint if needed.
Behind that carpet, you will find the shock mount bolts, and the rear shock tophat.
Undo the bolts on the shock, and install your bar on the studs, and replace the bolts.
You may need to jack up one side of the car to get it to fit properly, as I had to do with the front end of my car.
Hope that helps out.

If you want to keep your carpet, yes you will need to cut it to allow the bar to pass through.

It takes the weight off the back of the car on that corner. Allowing the shock/spring a little room to move. If Im not mistaking, there are 3 nuts on the rear shock mounts, undo 2 of them and LOOSEN the third to keep it from falling out.
Like I said, I had to jack the car up to get my front on, but I don't kno wether you will have to on the rear though.
See my write-up on the front for some ideas.

i felt a huge difference, it makes that back end feel a lot more stable around turns

I think He wants to keep his carpet in the trunk. And it looks like to me that he would have to notch it for the bar to pass through to really be able to keep it. Just an observation from somebody who does not have one of these bars.

i rather keep the carpet in and not cut into it, or alter it at all. but if i need to i will. its good to know that the rear strut does something...
now i just have to experience it for myself.
thanks for the info and input...

who makes a rear upper stb for em/es2's? i want one like the neuspeed that is just a one piece, solid bar. but i haven't found any like that yet. or any kind, for that matter...i think i've heard that megan makes one, but i'm not a fan of their products.
the rear struts mount with 2 nuts, not 3, jacking the car up will help but what you do is install the bar with the car on the ground and start the nuts finger tight. THEN jack the car and tighten the nuts the rest of the way, otherwise your struts will fall out. and unfortunately no one makes a one piece rear bar because it wouldnt fit. the only way you can do it is buy buying a 3 piece and welding it once installed.
