My friend has a 97 F3 and is going off to school. He said I can ride it if i take care of it while he's gone. It needs tires baaaad. Can someone let me know what kinda would be best and what sizes I need? It has the stock wheels. Thanks!

PS- He has a dent in his gas tank... can't you get it blown out with air somehow?

Stock for the front is 120/60/17
Stock rear is 160/60/17

Has bridgestone bt10's for a real cheap price. I just put em on a day ago, so i cant really comment on them yet. Everyone has had real good luck with em. The dunlop d207r's didnt last too long for me, and the front tire took forever to warm up for stoppies.
The rear lasted about 5-6k, the front had tread left on it so i kept it as a spare. I would say check out the bridgestones.

you can go wider in the rear, but you will alter the cornering geometry of the bike. Please stick with the stock tires, it is very different on a bike. It will turn in a little harder/slower in tight turns.

hey bro, what part of nc are you in? Anywhere near kinston? I am thinking of heading up there and picking up a 98 f3 if this guy will get back to me with pics and stuff. Just curious.

Oh as far as the gas tank dent, I have heard you can pop em out with compressed air. Make sure the tank is empty so you dont get sprayed with gas. If not, take it to a painless dent removal place, some of them use dry ice to pop out small dings. If not, ride the beotch as is. Hopefully you dont add to the ding already.

i'm in high point... right near greensboro. I'm figuring i'll take it to a dent place like you said and see what they can do. the bike is purple and yellow and looks almost like a smokin joe's bike... purple isn't my color, but i can't complain i guess. how fast is the f3 compared to an f4? Any idea of the F3 runs in the 1/8th or 1/4 mile? I can ride ok i guess. I think I'm capable enough to not endanger myself or anyone else more than anyother bike rider but i'm hoping to get much better. i'd like to take it to the strip once i get comfortable with it and see if it can beat my integra. i need to figure out if i should race my other friend's f3 or not (in my car).
Thanks
Thanks
Don't pop the dent with compressed air...you'll bulge the tank everywhere but the dent. Some shops can pull dents out, but if it's on a compound curve it'll be tricky. Personally I'd get a new tank and save the old one for trackdays, but that's just me
thanks for the help... I'm gonna start looking for a new tank if it can't be taken out at a dent place. I ordered a set of the tires mentioned above... can't wait
Ah, I know of the color scheme you speak of. I like that color scheme
Well, mine is not stock by any means and i have walked down f4i's. The f3 is a very capable bike. Hell my f2 would keep up with f4's. There are only a few more hp difference between the f3 & f4. The biggest change was weight savings going to an aluminum frame. Top speed on my f3 was around 165 but with speedo correction factor It is probably not really going that fast. It will get to 145 at the snap of a finger, but progress after that is slow. Depends on how much road you have. I dont have any moto mags with me, but i can check and put down a 1/4 time when I get home. I think it was getting up to 97mph in the 1/4 if i am not mistaken. Make sure you invest in some gear, Get a good helmet, leather jacket, gloves and at a minimal get some of those draggin jeans they are supposedly made of kevlar, or have kevlar inserts. Trust me you dont want any roadrash. My buddy looks like someone took a cheese grater to his arms.... Not a pretty site.

I've got all his gear to wear for the time being. I'll be getting a new helmet though. I need one for whenI go to the drag strip with my car anyway, might as well get a nice comfy one to keep for a while. Thanks
