whats the sequence for the removal of the headbolts
hey guys. i recently purchased a complete b18b to build for lsvtec and i was wondering what the proper sequence to remove the stock head is. I dont want to warp the head at all, because i plan on using it when i rebuild the b18b that is currently in my car.
ps., i tried searcing, im not that much of a noob, haha.
also, what tool do you need to remove the head? I'm up at college right now, along with all my tools, and the motor is back home, so when i leave school on friday i need to take all the proper tools with me.
thanks in advance guys!

You won't need any special tools to remove the head. Your typical hand tools and pliers. If you haven't done this before or don't have anyone to help, I highly suggest you do not go through with it on your own without a Helms manual.
I've done a lot of engine work before, and i've removed heads before, but i havent done much work on hondas, thats why i was asking. All my previous work was on VWs, and in order to remove the headbolts on a VW you need a special tool, I was basically just asking if honda is the same way.. if its a typical allen or torx bolt, or something special. And also, I assume the head removal sequence is different on every motor, so i wanted to check before i went and warped my head.
Yeah, you will not need any special tools. The head bolts are just like any other bolts. I also suggest you either get new ones or aftermarket ones. You do run the risk of the bolts stretching if you reuse them. Just a caution.
yeah, i plan on getting ARP headstuds when i bolt the vtec head on. Where can i pick up this 'helms' manual? and, anyone know the sequence?

You can buy them there. Perhaps if you search google, you can find a free one that someone compiled into PDF format.

To REMOVE, reverse that pattern, and loosen 1/4 turn at a time until you can turn them by hand. That's straight from the book (I had to refresh my memory).
Where do you go to school in Lancaster? MU, F&M? Just wondering since I'm in the area, and work at Jones Acura on Manhiem Pike.

EDIT: Ok that diagram looked a lot better when I wrote it out...now it looks like crap. Sorry
