Default Is my V-AFC needed?

Hi all My wife has a 00 type R. The mods are:

AEM CAI
Thermal Exhaust
Gutted Cat
DC Header (not sure if its the JDM one)
AEM Cam Gears
V-AFC

My question is do I really need the AFC or no?
I dynoed the car with the cam gears at 0 and the and the VAFC zeroed out. I base lined at 166hp and 117tq. I made the most power with the cam gears at -1 int and -1 exh. the power band was better over all and and peaked at 170.4 hp @ 8100 and 119tq. After tuning the afc ended up at + 5 from 7 grand on up. I think this setup is running a little rich. the final a/f between 7000 and 8400 was 12.5 area and when we started at 0 it was at 13.5 in the same rpm range. oh yeah they couldent print our baseline run so i really don't know if it was making more power over all. I ran 14.7 before and after tuning it with the same if not less mph 93.5 at sea level.

Amy help or input would be great. Type R owners please help.
