Default What did i get myself into?

I recently bought a JDM D15B with the LSD trans by itself. I also bought a P28 Ecu and 94 Ex Harness. I heard the Jdm d15 and usdm d16 were almost identicle. I went to a shop and the guys there told me that i cant use a d16 cam in my d15, i must get d15b specific cams and i guess nobody makes cams for the jdm d15. WTF!!! This motor is going into my EG Cx. Also do i need to swap any connectors from the motor to the harness to make it work or is it PnP?

You could use a D16z6 cam, whoever told you that is full of it. Now if its a non vtec cam i dont believe you could use it, or if you do you loose your VTEC. This is by far the easiest plug and play swap known to hondas.

Not sure about the harness but I'm pretty sure I can help you out with the cams. The D15b does have it's own cams....otherwise it coudln't be an engine..obviously.. I am 99.999999% sure you can use D16 cams in a D15b though why would you want to? The D15b cams are more aggressive the D16 ones anyways. I am very pretty sure they are fully swappable :-\. - Go with the D15b ones anyways :-\

That's what I thought, but I also thought the JDM D15b was a VTEC engine - the cams and VTEC should work just fine :-\

I'd still go with the D15 cams though...

Yea as long as you run a VTEC cam youll be fine, if you run a non VTEC cam what lobs do you use to run VTEC?

JDM D15 is known to have a more agressive cam.

SO no swapping of connectors? I thought JDM connectors were different; because of the whole RHD thing n stuff, and emissions crap?

OBD1 - OBD1, OBD2 - OBD2. As long as you have the correct harness your fine. But if anything they could just run your stock harness and o2 sensor and run lines for VTEC. Seriously if they give you problems of not knowing how to do the swap take it somewhere else.

Well the guy that told you that sucks ****.

Believe us or believe them.

They're interchangable, you can believe me (us) and be on your merry way or you can simply not believe us...

aight if your doing it then your on the correct path. But listen to this, since your going to run the P28 the ecu is going to look for a 4wire O2 sensor. I dont remember what CX's have but if you dont have a 4wire your going to need to pick one up and wire that in. Search around H-T for VTEC wiring and then your set. Just use your old harness.

D16Z6 and JDM D15B use the same head (P08). They are interchangable.

It has the connector to the o2 sensor but do you have the sensor itself? You still need to run the wires to the correct locations on your ecu from the shock tower.
