Default 92 Honda Accord EX

A friend of mine that i work with has the 92 honda accord sedan EX ....... i myself drive a 1990 accord sedan LX so he asked me about a problem with his radio which i couldnt solve but i figured i would give it a try here on HT


He changed his battery and has a stock honda AM/FM radio when he but the new battery in the radio is asking for a code to unlock it he went to honda and they want to charge him $85 dollars for the code but i told him before doing so i would see what you guys tell me

you need to find the code somewhere, either in the glovebox, under a fusebox cover, or even under the trunk lid. If not you need to pull the radio out

The $85 is for them to pull the radio out and look at the serial number on the back and then type the number into the computer. If you drive the car up there, with the radio out and bring it up to the service deck, they should just give it to you. You could also try bringing in a scrap piece of paper saying that you just bought the car and this was the code that the previous owner gave to you, and it obviously doesn't work. Most of the time they'll give you the right code. But definetly have the radiou out of the consol and in hand.

hell for 85 bucks get a used head unit from the classifieds if the dealer won't budge

I did the same thing when I had the original stock radio. I called my local Honda dealer and all they asked me for was the car's VIN # and they gave it to me for free. But this was about 12 years ago, I don't know if they would still keep everything about this old of a car, on file. Good luck
