I've got a GSR with the 3rd brake light in the spoiler. I'm going to be installing a type R spoiler with no 3rd brake. I know LS's and R's came with the light in the hatch glass. But I've noticed on all of them I've seen, there's some kind of metal bushings in the glass, apparently for a place to mount the light to from the inside... Is it still possible to mount the light securely without the bushings in the glass, or will I need to rig it somehow?

 

You are going to have to find a way to mount it, such as double-sided tape. Another option would be a universal unit like this one: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autop...10101

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't thought of trying a universal deal, I may give it a shot.

 

I mounted a 20 LED light bar at the top of the hatch. It is weel concealed, but very visible when illuminated. The mounting method was adhesive, which has been hanging on flawlessly for 2+ years.

That may not be legal in all states. Plus, alerting people that you are braking keeps them from driving up your ***.

ditto, I hate being behind cars with no or a non-functioning center brake light.

my OEM LED bar from my spoiler has been sitting inside my rear glass for going on 4 years now.
