Default HKS Sport Civic vs CRX Cat-Back

Well I searched and searched and cannot find a HKS Sport for my CRX, so I'm probably going to get a HKS Sport for a Civic and cut down the b-pipe length as I've seen discussed here. I searched around the forum and haven't heard any complaints about a modified civic exhaust on a crx but I just wanted to confirm that the rear section of both is exactly the same before I buy it. I don't want to have the muffler/tips not fit right. If anyone can confirm that the rear section is the same let me know.
Thanks,
-Kurt

i think the tips extend about 1" further, on the civic one. but you'll never notice. no one does.

The CRX version is just impossible to find and/or discontinued. Either way it does exist. The 1988-1991 CRX Si part number is LES-H04 and the 1988-1991 Civic Si part number is LES-H05. Thanks for the pic tho, definately looks good.

You appear to have the JDM EF9 rear bumper which helps with exhaust tip fitment. The exhaust tips would typically stick out quite far and look out of place when used with a usdm rear bumper. The EF9 rear bumper extends further out than the USDM counterpart.

So it would stick out even more on a CRX?
Pics of a HKS Sport for a Civic on a CRX would be great.

Well I if i could find one I'd buy the CRX version, but if I don't (the whole point of this thread) I don't want to have to hack the living **** out of a $500 exhaust

You need to shorten the b-pipe about 4 inches. You can buy a brand new HKS exhaust still for under $400. Or you can get a rear DA muffler secxtion for less than $20 and do a minor modification to the piping on the tip and it will bolt right up to the EF b-pipe, clear the rear sway bar, and look just like an HKS exhaust but sound nice & quiet. I've done this a bunch of times on CRXs and Civics, and here is a pic of the last Civic I did.

Hmm that looks pretty good, I'll definately keep that idea in mind for my other CRX but this one I'm looking to upgrade from my 1" exhaust lol. I guess I'll just order the Civic HKS Sport, I was hoping I could find someone with a pic of it on a CRX first but whatev.

It sticks out more than a inch on my hatch.

How hard are you searching for this exhaust? I did a google search for "HKS LES-H04" and came up with a ton of retailers that had it in stock.

Of course I didn't actually contact any of them to back up their claims

As I stated above in my post, it's a rear DA muffler section, so it sounds stock because it's a stock oem Honda exhaust.

After I cleaned up the tips and can/piping. $20 for rear muffler (you can find them all day long at a yard near by us), did the mods myself, 20 min later you get this.

I've been doing this for years and told people how to mod the DA rear muffler section in past posts. Nothing special, nothing to it. But it looks good when on the car, exactly like the HKS rear muffler section but with different looking tips.

What size piping does the DA rear section have? I'm assuming you're bolting this up to a stock exhaust? And are those tips factory tips off of a DA? Nice job.

but anyway here's a quick how to i started but i never really got done..and i'm trying to get a picture of it completed on my car but here's what you need to cut off..and its a perfect fit on my CRX..

so here's the HKS sport exhaust for EF CIVIC chassis from optionsautosalon.com

here's the HKS CIVIC exhaust next to my STOCK CRX exhaust...don't mind the broken piping..another reason why i needed a new exhaust

and as you clearly see where the shortening needs to be performed..that is including a new CAT as well..

here's another picture of it...

here's how much i measured needed to be cut off

Here's the marked segment cut and just spot welded for test fitment

here's pretty much what it came down to:

and here's another pic

come tomorrow i'll run out and take a picture in daylight to show you well it fits and i'm very happy with this exhaust setup, its VERY VERY quiet and that what i was aiming for! hope this helps..

how? i'm baffeled..the piping following the CAT is obviously longer by a whole 6-7" how'd you fit that part of the exhaust fit without removing what i removed...
