Default Is the K20A-R (JDM) a direct bolton witha Civic EX 2001

I am planning on buying a Honda Civic EX 2001 and am planning on swapping a K20A-R (JDM) engine into the car I was wondering if this engine is a direct bolton or if it will fit on its stock mounts?

This has been covered numerous times before. So, you should be prepared to get flamed.

First off, <FONT COLOR="red"><u>Search</u></FONT>ing would save you time and effort. A simple search could have easily yielded your desired answer.

Secondly, no, you'll need plenty of parts to put a K-series (regardless of type) into your EM2. And, the mounts will definitely need to be custom. There is a huge following for this, so it's not that you're out of luck.

Check here for a nice rundown of what to do: http://www.xproductionz.com/k20swap/k20swap.html

Hasport makes the custom mounts you're looking for and you'll need a Kpro ECU just to get the engine running. Depending on if you'd swap out your 4bolt hubs for the DC5 (RSX) 5bolts, or the DC5 Brembo'd 5bolts, would be the decider for what axles you'd need. If you're sticking with the 4bolt, you'd go with EP3 (Civic Si, the hatchback) axles, and if you're going with the 5bolt, you'd need the DC5 axles. There's PLENTY more I didn't cover, but like I stated earlier, this has been covered before, and you're better off searching for results instead of taking the easy way out.

Well I, myself will cut you a bit of slack this time and this time only, from now on SEARCH (I hope that others are as considerate and remember when they where a noob.)

first it is not a K20A-R it is a K20A that comes from a Integra type R. This motor is very similar to the K20a2 that comes from the RSX type S.

Second your question does not make sense "a direct bolt on or does it fit in stock mounts". Well even if there was such a thing as a direct bolt on engine swap it would have to fit into stock mounts to be considered a "direct bolt on".

Ok, so no it is far from a direct "bolt on" it requires alot of work and $, but when done it is well worth the work. If I were you and planned on swapping from the get go I would look into just getting a shell (no engine). Unless you really like the 7thgen body style I would maybe even consider looking at somthing like a CRX or an EK hatch, I really think that done right these look great and are WAY lighter than a 7thgen. I would buy the shell and then swap in the engine. Realistically you could get a EK hatch shell in good condition for 1-2K, you could then do the swap and do it right for 8-10K, throw on suspension, rims, and tires for 2K and you would have a 11-12 second sleeper for 11-14K. Just to put it into perspective with what you are thinking of doing (2001 7thgen and swap) you will end up spending 15-20K and will have a mid-high 13 sec sleeper. Either way is good, I have a 7thgen swap and LOVE it, but I did not plan on doing it when I bought the car, if so I would have done it a bit different.

If you want to do the 7thgen swap the thread that Toyomatt posted is a great resource. Some things in it are not 100% complete, but a mechanically inclined individual can figure it out. Xproductionz LOL

Check out K20a.org for more info on Kswaps. And remember SEARCH before you post. Oh, yeah welcome to the fourm

Definatly will need hasport mounts, plus some other parts. Here's a link to some guys DIY k20 install. He pretty much ripped it from hasport and added the prices that he spent for all the parts http://www.xproductionz.com/k20swap/k20swap.html
