ive been told by many of my buddys that the stock gsr is better than my tenzo r short throw shifter....i like the feel of it, but every once in awhile i would miss shift 3rd. is this because of the shifter?...is gsr different from type r?...
what shifter would you guys prefer?

my car came with a skunk and didnt like it my 88 integra with almost 200k shifted better, made for miss shifts and hard shifting i would have to double clutch to go into 1st and reverse i've since put a oem shifter and everything is butter and its not just my car everycar i've driven witha short shifter feels like crap. listen to ur friends
"You just can't shift faster than what it takes for the syncro to engage the gear. This is why short shifters do not improve track times, but your not getting into gear any faster. The syncro still takes the exact amount of time to engage whether it be a stock shifter or short shifter. All your doing with a short shifter is increasing the risk of grinding a gear.
Those people that say short shifters help their times need to spend some time with cordination exercises to time their foot and hand actions percisely. This is beneficial to those with stock shifters as well if your having trouble rev matching, heel-toeing and downshifting in general." -team-integra.net

i had skunk2 dual bend on my car for a few months. Very short throws, but also very notchy. I had rubbing issues with my cat back, so I went back to stock.

I say
to that rubbery-feeling stock shifter.
I've had an AutoZone dual-bend shifter in my car for over 5 years, still shifts like butta even at 235K miles. Yes I miss a shift every now and then, but that is from user error

I vote stock shifter (they're all the same, only difference is ITR is chrome), shifter extender, and Skunk2 weighted shift ****.

stock shifter w/ extender? So you like the shifter throw to be like a row-boat?
I would rather have an extender with a short-throw shifter, so at least the throw isn't longer than stock (which is long enough as it is).
That one shifter that people in the ITR forum always tout is pretty neat, longer both up top and down below, so the **** is closer to your hand when racing, but the longer bottom part keeps the throw from being excessively long. Not sure I would put it in a street car, though, because it looks kinda wierd

The straight one? hell no
and yes I have tried them before.
Also the fact that they do not put metal bearings in the bottom, but you have to transfer the insert from the stock shifter is super-homo

I am 100% for the skunk2 dual bend. I installed it in my old civic and loved it, never had a problem. I'm buying another one for my teg very soon, bc the stock throw feels like ***.
To those who argue about mis-shifting bc of the shifter, you are retards. If installed corectly, an aftermarket shifter isn't going to magicially make you miss gears or grind
And, saying that short shifters suck bc your synchros can't keep up? Um, ok, it's not that you can shift 100x faster with a short shifter... anyone can mash it into gear. It's all about the solid and precise feel that come along with a ss, especially with some ES bushings.

Now I don't know if there's a difference in the length of the shifters between ITR and non-R. The only difference could be the fact that one is black (non-R) and the ITR one is polished.
