Ok so I bought a 2000 Civic EX Coupe that had no doors on it. (theft) I had a pair of '98 EX doors same color and thought I was good to go. Put the doors on and plugged everything in. The power windows work fine. Tried the keyless entry and the locks worked but as it locked/unlocked I blew the 20 Amp fuse under the hood. Replaced the fuse ... same thing again. Damn. I unplugged the big plug that goes from harness to the door and compared it to a power window harness I have from the 98. The 98 harness has 17 wires going to that plug and the 2000 has only 16.
My question is, can I mod the harness somehow and get away with using the older harness or do I have to replace the whole door harness to 99-00??? Any help is appreciated.
Btw: the windows are still working, its just the locks that blow the fuse.

 

i would use the 99-00 door harnesses to be safe. I have a set of si door harnesses if your interested. should be the same as ex

 

Well I wanted to try the easier/cheaper way first. How much do you want for the harnesses? Let me know

cmon guys someone here knows if 99-00 /98-98 pw/pdl harnesses are interchangeable or can make work. I need to fix this

have you tryed to put a 25 fuse in?

 

Yes, still blows out. like i said i think it has something to do with that big plug that connects the harness from door to body....even tho it plugs in, the 98 door has a different amount of pins in the plug holes. One more to be exact. I wonder what could possibly be different from 96-98 to 99-00.

 

the wiring is prolly diff. 96-98 keyless units are in the radio, 99-00 is in the kickpanel, who knows how much of the rest is diff. hope you get it working, good luck.

 

Thanks man. hmm 99-00 keyless is different eh? damn. Well I do still have the 96-98 complete pw/pdl floor harness. Guess if theres no way to mod it I will be forced to buy 99-00 door harnesses or swap the whole floor harness
Guess Ill give it a week here and see if anyone has any ideas.
