Irratic idling problem, not the typical one
I have a b18b1 that have constant irratic idling during cold and warm engine operating temperature. I have replaced it with 3 different iacv, 2 map sensors, checked the vacuums, drained the coolant a couple times to make sure there is no air pocket or bubbles, replaced the throttle body and gasket. Am i missing something here that i forgot to do?theres no fast idle valve on the throttle body, fyi. I am in need of help badly, much thanks

i would check your coolant temp sensors if your approach is just throwing parts at it. if you can hook up a scaner i would look to see what your coolant temp is during cold a warm start then check to see if your O2 sensor is going into closed loop. Im guessing yor gas mileage is poor as well. coolant temp senors send the signal that the engine is warm and if they are not working properly your car may never go into closed loop O2 which then your computer is running off of set perameters instead of what is actually happening inside the engine. good luck
yea, the temperature sensor runs fine on the cluster when its warm and the fan kicks in when necessary. can i see if it goes into closed loop or not with a wideband?
im actually not sure about that when the car is warm it should run quite a bit leaner than on cold start at idle. Now the gauge is not run off your coolant temp sensor for the ecu. It is run off of a seperate sensor for the gauge itself which should be right under the distributor and the others will be on the thermostat housing and water outlet housing. If you dont have a vaccum leak and you have replaced the aicv i would lean toward the coolant temp sensors. another question does it have a miss at idle or idle surge if u have a miss at idle and it goes away when you drive it that could also be a egr vavle stuck open.
at cold starts, it popping noise out of the intake filter and shuts off. In order to drive teh car, i have to put it in gear and press the gas pedal and go fast, ghetto, i know lol. can't let the car idle at cold starts, it just shuts off. i thought obd2 b series intake manifold/motor don't have an egr?
have you checked your valve timing or recently done a timing belt thats the only reason it should backfire out of the intake timing sounds like it may be your problem
valves was tighten up and timing belt has 30k, before i dropped in the motor into my car, it was in my friend car, which was running fine without any irratic idling, which is weird, all he did was take the throttle body from it, which i replaced with the ones i have laying around, i tested both tb's. right now, i am aiming more towards the ecu, cause i am running a stock uberdata ls map on my chipped p06 ecu
