Default bad sputter when the car idles for a min.

ok this is a ls swap in a 93 cx hatch. it ran fine drove it open header to the exhaust shop. got exhaust done and now when the car idles for a min. or sits for a min. and you gas it, it will sputter until u hit like 2500 rpms. then it clears out. the timing on the dizzy is retarded like all the way. it acts like it is getting to much gas if it idles. would the timing cause this problem? thanks for any help.

why would the timing be retarded that far back? it's most likely your problem. correct the timing and see what happens.

i dunno. i think we were trying to get the idle down but we replaced the throttle body since so i guess we could bump it back up. retarded is toward the back right. and does this sound like a fpr problem maybe? i will try the timming first. thanks

if the idle was bad DON'T MESS WITH THE TIMING! there are couple of ways to adjust the idle, the screw at the T/B, the throttle cable. and also if there is a problem with the idle there might be a few problems.

are you throwing codes? the cheapest part to replace for this would be the pcv valve, many overlook it but can cause this problem.
