Default ek stock civic motor swap

hey

here's my situation. i've swapped a new motor into my car. the car is a 1996 honda civic cx and the new motor that i'm swaping in is from a 2000 honda civic dx. i'm having some trouble getting my motor going after swapping the stock engine. the motor is turning over but there is no spark whatsoever. i should mention i've installed brand new plugs, the wires are new, as well as the distributor and starter. i had one wiring issue, and that was that the plug from my wiring harness did not plug into the new distributor, so i switched it with the old distributor, they bolt up perfect. i have the ecu from the 2000 but it's not wiring up properly either. i'm not sure if there's a conversion harness i need or something like that. so if anyone could give me some advice, it would be much appreciated

i used the stock ecu and haven't been able to get the other ecu to plug in at all,
so i dont think that's the issue. is there some sort of conversion?
