Default Thinking about getting a CD5 Accord

I currently drive the 2nd gen 85 Accord hatchback model (yeah, you dont see them often nowadays) and its been handed down to me by my parents for the use of going to college, work, and wherever. My father went to take the car in half a year ago to get it checked and tuned and they said that the engine and everything around it is running bad. So we paid about 1K for a new water pump, battery, and lots of other things I'm forgetting right now plus labor. Next, my tires and brakes (roughly about 30% left) on all 4 are about to wear out which might cost us some more money. I know the Accord I'm driving right now might as well be a junk car at home, but its still a good use because its only got 92K miles on it. But I've heard things such as carborated engines killing the gas much faster than fuel-injected engines. Should I just switch off and get a 5th gen Accord? How much do used 5th gen Accords go for nowadays between 110K-150K miles? Or should I work on everything for the car and maybe swap the motor? (I'll have to cash out more of my money in my pocket and my friend says the engine bay is big enough for a F22/23 or H 22/23 swap).

do not spend any more money fixing up this car, its over 20 years old. that 1k could have gone to your new car. you can look on autotrader just to get an idea of how much money used cars are going for.

Though if I do get a CD5... there will be no more parking space for it but the driveway where it will be blocking 2 other cars. And I doubt my father would let me sell the 2nd gen Accord because of the memories they had with it and whatnot. I've been seeing price ranging from $3000-$45000 for 100K-170K miles for it. Btw, I'm trying to save gas here also!

$45,000 is pretty expensive for a car that is like a decade old! I'll sell you my CD7 for $20,000.

The 5th gens hold their price fairly well. IMHO it'll be hard to land a nice one under 6g's. If you get real lucky you'll get a nice one.

it depends on the area... definitely check autotrader and go look at a few to get an idea of price vs condition.

I've seen plenty of 5th gens for 3-4k that are under 100k (private sellers, not dealers) I saw one the other day in Raleigh NC that was 1500 had like 120k miles

Good pricing, but I live all the way in NorCal. Sorry, but I prefer a Cal registered car.

dude I'd say get a 5th gen. You shouldnt have to pay too much for it. I jus got my 6th gen almost 3 months ago for 5k even. it did have 132k miles on it though.
