Default Electrical help on civic

OK. My gf has 2003 civic and hooking up system with the use of the factory cd player....i ran the remote wire off up a wire under the steering wheel to the left....labeled auto cruise....it was the first wire powered through ignition that i found, so i went with it. well everything was good till i unhooked the remote wire on amp and touched it again....while the car was on, and obviously somthing blew....the speedometer will not work, and the check engine light/battery light is on. the wire in the auto cruise block underneath steering wheel is not getttin power anymore like it was before when i used a tester on it....i looked in manual for somthing about cruise control fuse...but did not find anything....what am i overlooking here, and what is the solution please.

You needed to hook that wire up to the head unit power wire at the back of the head unit inside the dash.

The one you hooked it up to was the hot on the ingition itself, which means, you blew the main power fuse under the hood more than likely.

Good job.
