Alpinestars SP1 gloves or SMX-2 gloves? (both brand new)
Also SP1 look like they protect your fingers better.
I have SPS which have a short cuff. Just went down yesterday and got bruised right after the short cuff where a longer cuff could have protected me.

Can I chose NOTA? The SP1s for protection but they just look like bad 80's movie robot hands. Take it one step up and go for the GP line or go superbling and get the Held Akiras. I'm pretty sure they're gonna be my next purchase.

Dang, $200 for gloves. Pretty crazy but I am sure they are worth it.
Neither of those gloves posted look too bad, however...I'd go with the SPs personally for paranoia's sake.

Says the guy who probably has $2000 worth of helmets... that you can only wear one at a time.

Cathcart = $565
Doohan = $611
Quantum = $480
All purchased @ 40% days at Coleman's. I hate buying **** at full price.
I did say the gloves were worth it, did I not?

I know how you feel. This plays a role in my decision also though. http://www.webbikeworld.com/alpinestars-gloves/

out of those two i would get the smx2's theyre still excellent gloves.
the sp1's are great gloves, but that latest model is very uncomfortable.
the OLDER sp1's are way better and VERY comfortable, i own a pair.
good luck.

If you're uncomfortable spending that much on gloves there are 3 different models of A* GP at various price levels.

i wouldn't buy anything that doesn't have wrist protection(although i have in the past). 1. you won't have to upgrade if you want to do a trackday 2. more protection is always better. Some A* is better than other A* but its all better than most of the crap you see around like icon. If your looking at that price range i'd say spend the extra 15 and get the sp1's

i'm with apoc: i bought the GP Pro's for $120 shipped from a reputable seller on eBay.
much better protection IMO. between your choices you've listed, i'd definitely go with the SP1 for the extra $15.

if you are going to be riding only street (which i will assume because thats the majority of the people here) then i would say the SP1's. they are more of your sportbike style glove. full wrist protection, carbon fibre on the fingers and knuckles and just overall made for high speed riding more than the SMX. but, that is inherent because the SMX is obviously for motocross style riding. i personally will probably buy the SMX's because thats more my style and i am very comfortable wearing that style of glove.
i think you should wear them both and see what you are more comfortable wearing. in the end the extra protection isnt worth jack if you arent comfortable wearing it.

I already bought the SP1. If they're uncomfortable, I'll just sell them or something and get new ones. Thanks for the input guys.
