Im thinkin about gettin a 89 CRX SI and dropping in a sr20 instead of a B series .. would this require any cutting? Also would it pass inspection in California?

 

step back and just think logically,
SR20DETs never made smog here EVER hence we got the ka. We did get the sr20de, about same as a b16 with more torque but not much aftermarket.

it's a nissan motor in a honda car, most SR20s are for rwd.

you don't just drop a b series in anyway.

 

Doubt it'll pass emissions, but what do I know. And I'm not sure what you mean by cutting, but it will certainly require a ton of custom fabrication.

its just that if you are not bright enough to know that 150 in a crx is just plain insane, i know for sure you are not bright enough to get that motor in there and make that crx 150 mph+ ready.

Do you have any idea how fast 150mph is? You're just throwing a number out there that sounds cool with no regards to how fast it actually is. Second, why would you need a nissian SR20 to hit that? Instead of just throwing a cool fast number out there actually stop and think.

These guys arn't being short tempered with you at all, I know for a fact ***-assin could get a lot worse. He was actually trying to help you. If you think that's a short temper I hope you never actually see him go off. He's been nice to you in this forum.

To put an SR20DET in it would have to be a Bluebird FWD...mad custom fab work, look at a 10 grand price tag at least. Why would you want to do that? If it's for a show car or something and you want the mad points that would give you at HIN, great, but to put it in to "hit 150mph" is even more stupid sounding than that being your reason for a motor swap.

**** man, just do a b-series swap and build the motor and boost it? So many ppl ask "is it hard to drop an sr20 into a honda"...um think about that, wiring harness, motor, mounts, turbo and downpipe and ic piping, axles, all custom, and god knows where and what you gotta cut or bash in to make it fit. You can stick anything in a car with enough $$, but I seriously doubt it's worth the $$ to put that motor in, especially for the ****-eyed reason you gave.

Even Bisi in his insight only hit 138mph @ about 10 seconds at Battle of the Imports Seattle. His CRX went about the same the year before. Think about that. Wake up and smell the coffee man...aim for a realistic goal.

My friend hit 120 in his 92 Eagle Talon Turbo All Wheel Drive, and he said that even going that fast in a more sporty car felt like super insane. I have gone like 90-95 in my stock EF and the whole car didn't seem like it enjoyed the experience. There is a reason that most new sports cars are limited to go past 140... And those are built for the speed even more than a 16ish year old car.
