Bushings: poly vs. hard rubber vs. spherical
I have been reading numerous threads for the past week regarding suspension bushings. Mostly upper/lower front/rear control arms. I plan to do a complete upgrade over the fall/winter. Based on my readings it seems that the poly urethane debate is neverending. Some like 'em and some don't.
One thing that has confusd me a bit is the use of spherical bearings. I'm no guru so this baffles me a bit. Using a rubber bushing(OEM/Mugen) will allow minimal movement in that area. Using a ploy bushing will restrict that movement even more, perhaps even bind under load. Some seem to favor this result and some don't. Then, the spherical bearing seems to allow almost a free range of movement, which to me, seems counter productive.
Someone care to explain?
To give everyone an idea as to where I am at I'll provide a list of what I have ordered and what I'm still deciding on.
<U>What I got so far(uninstalled)</U>
Mugen engine mount set
Spoon N1 12Kf/14Kr
Mugen front compliance set
Mugen rear trailing arm set
<U>What I'm looking at still</U>
This kit: http://www.orijinmotorsports.com/proddc2ren.html
King Motorsports spherical rear upper arm
The formula link kit found here: http://www.technicasport.co.jp/eng/kit.htm, scroll down to second pic. These seem to be next to impossible to get in North America.
A-Sports front and rear upper control arms
Using the Orijin upper and lower arm kit with the Skunk2 adj. FUCA and the Omni or stock FLCA
Again, I'm not sure where the spherical bearings would help and in what area of the suspension. Just the lower control arms, upper and lower, front and back?
Suggestions, comments and opinions welcome
