Default Creating a sleeper

What are some tricks you guys use to fool stunnaz on the streets? Seems like nowadays...something like a stock looking hatch is expected to have something under the hood. I was thinking maybe a SOHC VTEC sticker...civic type R emblem, tuned by RAZO hehe. Or is just the clean, stock look still the ultimate sleeper look? Well..here's what the car looks like:

I say leave the car looking like it is now, clean and stock. Yours looks good.

lowered, with 15 inch 2001 civic steelies//caps, civic specific exhaust, no stickers, full interior, A/C, no blue headlights. That is my sleeper.

I agree w/ the idea of 2001 EX wheels w/ hubcaps and better tires. Plain ol' 15" steelies, would do as well. HX wheels are pretty damn stealth, though.

Slight drop (whatever your upgraded suspensio allows)

Custom exhaust w/ flat black painted ES muffler and 2.25" tailpipe (just a tailpipe, not an exhaust tip)

If you want outright bait, a TenzoR sticker would do the trick, but I'd be more apt to leave out any other visual cues.

leave the VX exactly like it sits in that picture. If anything step up to the 14" Hx wheels and put some drag radials on them to get more traction.
and even go as far as putting some EX/Si 92-95 hubcaps over the HX's cause steelies weigh a lot more. use integra rate skunk2's and then raise your car up a little bit. get a ES muffler painted flat black. i was gonna go as far as getting 2001 ex 15" steelies and painting it silver to look like the 13" steelies.

Camber isn't too bad. The front is -1.4 degrees and rear is -0.9/-1.1 degrees. The front is just out of the specified range by 0.4 degrees..but the rear is just within it.
Motor is getting put in Friday...so I'm assuming I'll have to raise the front a bit and also get it aligned once more.

a few years ago i had a 93 teal green civic hatch totally stock except for about a 1 inch drop, si rims, and exhaust. no stickers, plain body. very sleeper. i had a gsr motor w/jrsc@8lbs so there was no intercooler or anything. went 13.20'-13.30's on street tires exactly how it sat. it was fun to say the least. now a days, you could go with a crvtec w/around 210-220 to the wheels daily driven. with drag radials that should be mid 12's in the 1/4. no nitrous, turbo, or s/c. thats sleeper.

yepyep. don't add anything to the exterior that is unnecessary and keep it as stock looking as possible.

Well with the whole point of a sleeper being that you don't advertise, I'd say that rule one would have to be:

Don't post pics of your car on the internet and talk about putting a swap in it.

IMO, the best sleeper would have the following:

-Obviously, some kind of swap, pref a B18C
-Stock ride height
-VX wheels or steelies, with grippy tires (AVS-Intermediates, Azenis's,etc)
-Bone stock exterior
-Gutted interior
-Tinted rear windows so nobody can see the gutted interior
-Rape Away!!

You know, depending on what kind of competition your hunting. No matter what you do to that Civic it will always be a sleeper. I have just as many (if not more) friends in the domestic scene that are just as amazed when a "riced" Civic smokes them as when a "sleeper" Civic smokes them. Its just the fact that its a Civic that drives them nuts.

I agree that you just keep it as close to stock on the outside as possible for the whole effect. Good luck!
