cel 20.... what can cause it?
hello everybody,
my friend did a b16a2 obd1 swap in to his 97ek, and he used the d serise alternator with a custom bracked he did.
he's getting cel 20 (electric load sensor) could the alternator cause this?
thanks

ELD is located in the fuse box. I was getting this code the other day and it seemed to be caused by my knock sensor not working (didnt make any sense to me but its not coming up anymore)
I know the d-series alternator puts out 70 amps versus 80 for the b16a2, i dont think that would throw the code though.
try resetting the ECU and see if the code comes back up (thats what the helms manual recommends first)

hello.
he dosnt have a knock sensor on his engine. he have a P30 that supports knock sensor. so he's getting a cel for the knock sensor too.
either way. we tryed to use a friend EDM p30(that dosnt support a knock sensor) and the knock sensot cel didnt appeard anymore, but we still get cel 20

ok, bare with me. he doesn't have a knock sensor on the motor itself or is running an ecu the has bypassed the sensor.

ok. sorry if i confused you.
he dosnt have a knock sensor on the engine.
his own ecu have the knock sensor board and its enabled
we tryed a friend EDM p30 with out a knock sensot board and the knock cel turned off but the EDL cel is still on..
K?

so theres a spot on the motor for the knock sensor, but he doesnt have one in there? You should get one if you're running the p30 (i have this same setup a2 with a p30).. haha it doesnt matter thats not your problem...
anyway..my code went away with the fixing of the knock, you still get the code with the other ecu though so change the alternator with the 99-00 si one and see if you get the code again....if you can get your hands on a helms manual (you can download them on a couple sites, google it) theres a couple procedures to do to troubleshoot the ELD if you get the code again. good luck
edit...i just did some searching for you and philosofy1 is right, change the alternator!

google on ELD
it's in your fuse box...just replace the alternator with the right one..that's the easiest way to fix the problem
