i need help guys.....
how are the intake manifolds suppose to look from the si and dx cause the one on the car doesnt look like a carburator.......can u show me a pix of how the engine suppose to look on a 91 hatch with sunroof cause i need to get spark plugs, oil filter for it and just to need to be 100% sure what to tell them at autozone......
the intake manifold for the 88-91 dx has a top mount throttle body. the 88-91 hf/si has the normal side entry throttle body/manifold.
that is similar to what the si intake manifold looks like. (same design)

This is a D15B2 and the intake manifold that it uses...

i see now my car has the engine in pic 2 and the throttle body/manifold on pic 1 so im guessing the person that had this car put a dx engine in it with the si manifold.....so the engine that my car should really have is the d16a6 engine...... thanks b16crxt for answering my question would look for you if i have any more questions.........

Well, the motor in the first pic is not the original engine. It is a jdm B16A. I only used that pic as an example for the intake manifold. For the D16A6 pic, just imagine that 2nd picture with the intake manifold from teh 1st pic and thats what the d16a6 looks like. It sound slike you have a d16a6 in your car from what you are saying.
thats what my car has the intake manifold from the first pic and the engine from the second pic but the block says d15b2 so its really a d16a6.....and when i go ask for part what do i say to them
if i hear you righ tyour saying that the block you have is a d15b2 but you have a differnt intake. it's fairly easy to convert form dpfi(what a d15b2 normal has) to mpfi(which is what the si has and what is in the 1st pic) hope that makes sense
So, you rblock says d15b2? Then most likely you have a d15b2 with a mpfi coversion. Just buy all the parts for the d15b2. Actually, take a picture of your motor and post it up in here. What do the stamps on the head say?
If you look at the left side of the radiator cap in my pic, Well past the cap and look at the block. There is a flat spot where the motor number is stamped on the block.
That will tell you absolutely what you have.
Does the motor and the intake manifold look the same as yours?

Here's what probably happened to your car (if it's an si): the engine blew, they grabbed one out of a dx, but switched the intake manifold and distributer. I've seen it done to a few cars.
as far as performance compared to an SI motor, it's not far off. these engines have slightly higher compression (not really noticible, 9.2:1 as opposed to 9.1:1) and slightly lower displacement (1.5 liters as opposed to 1.6 liters).
they have the same cylinder head casting, however the si got the "pick" of the pile, the highest quality ones.
the only other real difference you'll notice is that the dx has a different cam in it. If you put in an SI cam or a different performance cam, you'd never really know it's not an si motor.
