I had my closest call to date this afternoon on the way home from work.

I was splitting lanes between the 1st and 2nd lanes when I came up on a Harley guy wobbling his machine in front of me. The guy would rush forward and come to a dead stop between lanes because he thought he couldn't make it. Not trying to make his bad situation worse or possibly rear ending him, I sat back and when a spot opened in lane 3, I rolled on the throttle.

No sooner did I clear the intersection in lane 3 did some bitch in a white Toyota Corolla signal and merge right into my position. I normally ride in the far right of that lane to protect my position and keep visible but this bitch moved so fast, all I could do was roll to the right and accelerate. I ended up riding past her in the gutter inches from the curb motocross style! I knew it was close because my elbow pushed off her passenger side front window.

When I got home, I had white paint on my left muffler can.

No more than 45 seconds past that, I came to a red light where I saw a bicyclist stop in the middle of the cross walk and get off his bike in a hurry. When I got to the intersection, I saw that his friend had hit a mini van that pulled into the cross walk. The bicyclist looked to be OK and the motorist pulled through the intersection to a stop.

There were three things in common:

1) Both victims were on two wheelers
2) Both offending vehicles were white
3) Both vehicles were driven by asian women

Ride safe.

 

i'm asian. its a stereotype but asian women really cant drive. i dont understand. given theres some really good drivers out there, but the older asian women are crazy.

I had six close calls on my way home on Thursday from work (along the 105, 110, 101, and 10). After a day like that, I caged it to work the next day.

Good to know you're still on two.

 

glad u didn't wreck! i'd be scared shitless if my elbow his the window. i agree i'm scared of asian women, but not only asian, on the road.

Should I ever ride a bike(or bicycle even) anywhere near the San Gabriel Valley and/or Rowland Area (Rowland, Hacienda, Walnut, Diamond Bar) ?
Should I ever ride to get boba ?
Should I ever ride to Ranch 99 ?


Answers:
1. No, unless you feel lucky, punk.
2. Since that would most likely involve driving to Rowland or some other asian area, No.
3. Not unless you plan to take out early on that life insurance....

I'm asian and have been to all 3. And I also say NO to all 3! Can't really help not riding in Diamond Bar, since I do live here.

 

Ranch 99? In the Focus plaza? that one is CRAZY. Especially since they put up the Hilton across the street.
