new motor need help
ok to keep it short and sweet. I am getting a d16z6 block with a y8 head. i just need some info on putting it in my 89 civ std. i looked everywhere and no luck. i was wondering i have a complete 91 si harness with ecu. and the part i was wondering about is the wiring basically can i wire it myself or need to get some adapters from ry-wire. the guy told me teh yead is obd2 and the block is obd1 is this correct. and could the si ecu run it for a while til i get the money 4 a p28. if anyone has any info or links please reply thanks
yeah the si ecu can run it for now but you'll need an obd0 dizzy for that..for that wiring go here http://fourthgenhatch.net/mpfi.html ,,then when you get the obd1 p28 you put back on the y8 dizzy and convert your wiring harness to obd1......
you can run the 91 SI ECU with no problem. Nothing bad will happen to your engine. The only thing with that, is that you wont have vtec. You will need a vtec controller or something to activate it unless you want to buy a PR3 computer from a b16a.
You need to get the distributor from the 91 SI. The distributor in your car has 2 sensors in the distributor and the SI distributor has 3.
For the wiring, its not hard. The only thing you need from the wiring are the plugs for the injectors. Just open up the wiring and take out the injectors with the wires. You said you have the wiring, did you by any chance get the resistor box?? It's a small box that has a green connector underneath the hood on the driver side. You will also need that. Besides the wiring for the injectors, you will also need to connect one sensor from the distributor.
