Default 1990 Accord has ruff Idle and sudden loss of power while driving

I just recently replaced the head gasket on my accord, but after test driving for a hundred miles. The engine has ruff idle at start up and at running temperature. I think my sudden loss of power may be from a weak fuel pump. Do you have to drop the tank or is there access to the fuel pump under the back seat? Where do you jump the terminals on a 1990 Hond accord to access trouble codes.

don't just guess..get a fuel pressure tester and test it...harbor freight sells a kit that has the correct adapter for only $20

Interestingly enough, I experienced the sudden loss of power issue, I was driving and the car would no longer go forward, battery and everything still worked, but would not start. I troubleshot the issue. I sprayed some starter fluid into the throttle body and it cranked right up, which let me know it was fuel related. I bought the fuel pump, to repair the issue.

I orginally thought i could just dremel a trap door like on my firebird, that was not the case

PLEASE UNDERSTAND...to replace the Fuel pump YOU MUST DROP THE TANK.

which was not that big of a deal actually....i took out the fuel pump and noticed that the strainer was FRICKIN FILTHY!!!....

i expected it to be a lil yellow, but it was crudy and almost black.

I tested the pump with jumper cables and it began to spin up, sounded weak though.

I took the new pump out of the box and it sounded stronger. I then took the strainer off and tested the old pump again, and it sounded alot like the new pump...

I replace the OLD pump with new STRAINER.....turn the key

CRANKED RIGHT UP!!!....

20 Dollar fix as opposed to 180 for new pump and strainer.
