rear main seal housing
I am replacing my clutch and all that good stuff but i have one question about the housing that the rear main seal sits in. Does this housing have a paper or rubber gasket? Because when i took mine off it looks like it was just sealed with sealer/gasket maker.

One more question about the rear main seal. When i put the new seal in the housing do i tap it back until it cant go any further or do i tap it until its flush with the housing?

In my factory service manual, '88 CRX Helms for D series,
It says to drive it in squarely,up against the cover..
and goes as far as to check the depth all the way
around with a feeler gauge.. clearance .2-.5mm [0.008-0.02 in]
I have read/heard "not to drive it all the way in,"
but that says just the opposite...
I have always gone all the way in with it...
You might check your old seal and see what it looks like..
