Default HELP: Occasional random rev cut

Has anyone else experianced ramdom rev cut at exactly 6500rpm on their Preludes? i have a SH model and this occurs on and off.

Some things to note:
-Engine is always warmed
-No CEL
-No codes shown on CEL
-After it happens it might not happen the next time
-Reseting ECU makes no difference
-Car has basic bolt ons I/H/E

Any ideas what the cause of this problem maybe? it is really pissing me off

chack your oil - if youre low it'll cut revs around that rpm. it used to happen to me all the time...turned out the car had the wrong length dipstick when I bought it so I ran it with about 3.5qts of oil instead of 5

Yea mine does that sometimes too, I have a '94 motor and it tends to happen when I am either burning out or in rain when the tires loose traction and the RPM climb really quickly... any Ideas?

Oil level is fine, that was the first thing i checked. Its been happening for quite a few month now. Its really frustrating not been able to find out the cause.

Just another note, it started occuring after i installed Energy Suspension motor mount inserts... but i highly doubt it is associated. It didnt happen immediately after but the mounts was the last thing i touched before the problem started occuring.

Check all ur grounds, check ur battery terminals and make sure they're tight, my positive was loose and had corrosion and it made mine do this and my tach jump sometimes too. Does it feel like a revlimiter or does the engine simply cut out and rev down?

It feels like rev limiter, exactly like when you bounce off rev limiter at 7500rpm.
My negative battery connection is slightly corroded.... good point, ill clean that up tonight and see if its any help.

suscribed, I also had this problem one day. my engine was not fully at operating temp but still pretty warm and it just boucned off the rev limiter right at 6500rpm (1000RPM too low)

What I was thinking is that the p13 has a dual point rev limiter similar to the one on my dad's Mini Copper where its redline raises when it heats up to full operating temp. If the p13 has this, what peramiters does it have to meet to raise the redline?

Yes the p13 does have a dual rev limiter, if it is not warmed up to the C point on the meter it won't rev to redline, but I don't think this is the guys problem. Anyways, it's not a good idea to rev ur motor high when it is cold. Yeah take care of that corrosion, that helped me, and fixed a code for the ELD I had cause there was so much of it. Good luck let us know how it turns out.

Finally got the time to clean the battery terminals. Although it didnt solve the problem, it needed a good clean eitherway.

Below is what im guessing is the cause of the rev cut, the really really lean plug is taken from cylinder 2, im guessing the injector is clogged. Will need to get it cleaned. Is there any DIY injector cleaning methods? or need to take it to the shop to get it professionally done.

Finally solved the problem, it was not the injector (the injector was cleaned and flow tested) they are running 100%. Problem was a failing fuel pump that was not pumping enough volume, but had correct psi (only tested psi at idle). Ended up getting a Walbro 255lph, finally returned the car to normal

edit: Car is still rev cutting but with much less frequency... damn this is pissing me off, i cant find the problem at all, I cant think of anything else to try. No CEL (yes i checked even though cel light is not on) makes it very difficult to find the problem.
