was in third on the highway, floored it and car was smooth as usual but vtec didnt kick in at 5500 and around 7k the car got sluggish and the CEL came on. drove 3 miles home, turned the car off, waited 10 secs, turned back on and no CEL. didnt make another run to see if vtec would work, but what the hell could be wrong. the car was on the dyno all afternoon and worked perfectly, vtec kicked in nicely every time and no troubles at all. whats the deal?

See what shows up. Do yourself a favor & keep the little jumper wire with you at all times so you can check a code before driving 10 miles...

 

Do me a big favor and check your oil. that happened to me and i was a quart low. just a thought. good luck.

 

ok, but its not throwing a code at all anymore. the CEL is off, but i havent gone out to test it this morning yet

update: pulled the plugs and there was some oil in the spark plugs and the wires were a little wet. i guess this means the rings are leaking? is that the problem?
