Got in an accident!!
well today i got in my first accident, i was driving about 55 in a 40 zone when my steering went all ******* haywire and i couldn't control the car. I swerved all over the place and almost hit the car in the other lane, then all of a sudden it just darted to the right and ******* went over a curb, bent my entire driver side rim in, and then we slid across the street (this was at a corner) and we hit the other curb and a stop sign. the engine dropped out and was smoking like crazy. no one was hurt, except my car, which hurts me emotionally (i was almost in tears seeing my baby like this). the car is probably going to be totalled. i'll try to get pictures online so you can see how fucked up it was. Does anyone have any clue of what could have made my steering go crazy? It was like it had a mind of its own i couldn't steer at all. i just got new brakes put on, that might be what went wrong, not sure yet. well now its time for a new accord, i'm thinking of getting a 4th gen again. but we'll see what kind of settlement i get from the insurance company and if it is the brakes that caused this ****, i'm going to ******* sue the crap out of the shop i took it too. If anyone lives near or in Mesa, AZ and can help me remove all my suspension and **** on my car, before i sign it over to the insurance company, i would be very greatful if you could help me out cuz i don't know much about installing or removing suspension. write me at Turbo69979@aol.com. sorry for the length just venting, thanks for listening.
sounds like someone forget to connect a steering componet. What work did you have done? You could have a huge lawsuit on your hands here. Thank God you are ok.
what is the axle nut came off and then when he turned the axle end popped ot of the hub?? that seems pretty feasible if they did brake work like rotor change or something. seems pretty crazy, but ive had a rim come off at 35, so anything is possible. good thing is you're ok.
He didn't mention any wheels coming off. If it was a mechanical failure it was probably a steering tie rod. I think the mechanicals will check out fine and the accident will prove to be driver error. Everyone tries to blame it on the car.

the wheel didn't come off, it wasn't raining, and i swear that something went wrong cuz i was driving straight, and i didn't move the steering wheel, and it started swerving really badly
I've had an accident that was mechanical in my first car, the throttle return spring broke and the gas fell to the floor. I step 2 feet on the brake and she "pushed" the locked front wheel accross the payment in to the building in front of me before I could turn off the key. And I hear this all the time:
Even though witnesses and the cop saw the broken sping once I pried the hood open.
