What is zam?
So recently I installed a video screen for Mitsubishi, 20' x 40'.
The metal cabinets were made of a material called "ZAM".
It is magnetic and can not be welded. So these were built in Japan.
All I know is what Mitsubishi told me. I googled and found nothing has anybody ever heard of this?

Thanks I am really curious now.

It's probably a zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy. I don't think ZAM is a commonly used acronym, although Zamak is a common name for a metal used for die casting.
Interestingly enough, I just found a link on Google for the exact material. It's what I thought except it's a coated steel, that's why it's magnetic.
Click for ZAM page

So if its coated in steel then it would rust?

Sorry, maybe my post wasn't clear. The steel is plated with the Zn-Al-Mg alloy. The steel is what's underneath. The ZAM is on there specifically so it will not rust. It's probably cheaper than stainless, or it might have some needed properties that stainless doesn't, like remaining magnetic.
