Default Clutch squeak -> slave clutch cylinder

OK, so every time I step on the clutch in my 5gen, I hear a squeak - think "jumping on a spring mattress" kind of a sound. I traced it to the place where the metal arm connects to the slave cylinder. There's a rubber cover on that joint, and when I spray WD40 under the cover, the sound goes away for a couple of days.

Now, has anyone experienced that in their car? What did you do to fix it? Is it possible to replace the slave cylinder without pulling the transmission?

probably your fork needing some greasing.

the slave cylinder is on the outside of the tranny. So there is no removal of the tranny that is necessary in order to change it.
