Struts on coilovers
If you're talking about coilover sleeves:
You can use aftermarket shocks. It's better that way, sleeves are just height adjustable springs really.
If you're talking about full coilovers:
Most of the time you can't use aftermarket shocks. The shock bodies are made so they use their own lock rings and spring perches etc etc.

do you know what a "strut" is?
do you know what a "coilover" is?

this question makes no sense if you do.
a strut is specifically a shock absorber/damper on macpherson strut cars, which all civics/integras from 88-00 did NOT have, so technically we dont have struts. only on newer, cheaper hondas. but otherwise, "strut" is used interchangably as just a "shock absorber" alone anyway.

simply a coil over design is a coil spring over the shock. as opposed to being separate, like in the rear of volkswagens. some call that a divorced spring. or even as far opposed to not even a coil spring at all like a leaf spring in a truck.
however, its commonly used as an aftermarket product. but two distinct types.
first is the adjustable spring kit, that has a threaded sleeve and different spring. the most notable brand for this is ground control. gives height and easy spring interchangability to each corner. but you can use a normal shock.
the second is a complete spring/shock system with the body of the shock is threaded, aka threaded body shock, full coilover, or often misnamed "true coilover" (see first paragraph). that would be like your KW's.</TD></TR></TABLE>
