Default speed differences in ex and sis?

Hi everybody!
I'm 19, [and drive responsibly ] and I was wondering what the difference in 0-60 speeds between the EX and the SI are, I own an EX, and sometimes people say I should have gotten an SI. But if the 0-60 speed is less than a seconds difference I don't think it would matter, however I don't know the 0-60 speed of my car because there are no flat roads where I live and nowhere to test it, plus it's impossible to find on google. Thanks for the help!

Well I'm a newb but not a ricer, personally I find body mods and such unattractive, and the idea of working on a new car's engine and voiding the warantee is just stupid imo. I'm only curious. It couldn't be that dramatic of a difference could it?

Yes, they SOHC. The engine doesn't compare to the Si.

No way four seconds is too much. The 0-60 speed of a si is 7.4 seconds,[listed from the internet], and the 0-60 speed of my old Cavalier which also had 140hp was 8.2 seconds, and I find the acceleration of the Civic coup is the same as or slightly faster than my old Cavalier. There's no way the Civic coup 0-60 is over 9 seconds, and it's definetaly not 11.4 seconds. I guess I should have stated I'm refering to the Civic coup since the sedan would obviously be slower due to it's weight.

The four doors weight isnt that big a deal anyway

The EX is a smooth comfortable vehicle

The Si is a performance oriented vehicle

The acceleration numbers show it and while the Si is a solid mid to high 14 sec car the EX is a high 15 sec car

There is a big difference in performance and those who care, they buy Si's --- you obviously dont care about "performance" so it really wouldnt matter how much of a difference there really is

the EX coupes are still very nice cars, and there will be plenty of performance options by the time his warranty is up.

plus it doesn't have the stupid looking wing on it.

The two above posts are correct, I had sold my car I was carless and needed one to get around and I didn't have 27k (Canadian) for the si. Anyways so your saying the difference in acceleration is a second? That's all I wanted to know, it's not a big deal at all unless your racing on the strip, which I don't do anyways. Also weight does make a significant difference does it not? Take the application of carbon fiber for example, the entire point of it is to reduce the weight of the vehicle to increase performance. Also I notice all the time my car is spunkier when it is low on gas as apposed to when I just filled it up, even passangers make a difference.

i think the difference in wegith between the coupe and the sedan is like 50 lbs

which is not that much considering you get 2 extra doors and better seating for the passengers

Whether or not that Si spoiler is "hot" or not is your opinion...

...but the general consensus is that it's "not"

Ha the 06 civic si has some of the best styling ive seen in a long time it's an eye catcher from any angle and i think the masses would agree on this. If someone think's different they must not have driven an si or they would have experienced this.

Now I'm not trying to have an e-fight here but what does noticing a cars styling have to do with driving it?

well think about it this way....would you rather drive a 200hp beater car....or a 200hp super super sexy car? styling has alot to do with driving in a sense that everyone wants to look good in the car they drive, no point in going fast if its ugly (not saying the regular civics are ugly at all) but there really is a big difference between the regular civic and the si inside & out besides being a crap load faster.....just my .02

I would rather spend alot less money on an ugly car, and make it fast. Than to spend 24k on a car that really is not that fast and looks good.

Nobody expects an ugly car to be fast. When you have a sexy car, people expect it to be fast.

haha not so fast? its pretty damn fast...not the fastest...but damn

apparently i found out something ******* hilarious last night....my buddys got this awesome looking rx8 and he's been a dick to me lately all like "my rx8 can beat your si blah blah" which is odd, because i havent even said anything to the affect of beating him cause i know i wont......anyways i guess everybodys been hounding him and telling him i'd beat him in a race because im the only other person in the group with a nice car. but hes too much of a puss to take it to the track so we wont find out anyways
