Default Honda Accord 1994-1997 vtec EX stick or auto????

Hello my fellow honda peers..... And Techs, i ahve a question. Im lazy i dont really like stick shift becasue my first experience with an 88 civic wasnt so good. i was averageing 10 turns offs daily. i got better to a point that i turned of like once a day. My question is i really love the honda accord generation 5 vtec ex . IM looking for speed. I know alot of you will say go with the stick, but what are the specs on both and the tale of the tapes. Stick or Auto! thats what i wanna know. Thanks guys!

i'd say go with an auto. Order the pts kit from level 10. That should be pretty good. if you don't like driving stick, there are ways to make a auto better.

i have an auto 5th gen ex and ive done some mods to it to make it faster i mean it will never be as fast off the line as stick unless i spray lol but i might use a prelude tranny with teptronic to have the best of both worlds lol

i will add if you ever wanna try hondata or similar, they require manual trannies over autos. i think i heard neptune working with auto. not positive.

It sounds like you have already made up your mind about getting an auto. If you are looking for speed you have came to the wrong car.

I don't know that exact figures but I doubt the auto or the stick do much faster the high 16s in the 1/4 mile with the stick being around .5 seconds faster than the auto.

This is not to say that the accord can not be made into a fast car. There are plenty of fast (mostly boosted) accords around and I would venture to say that 95% of them are sticks.

the auto tranny is good for like 300k + if its kept up well, but it can't really handle that much extra power ( ie. you can't boost it and expect it to live).

i would say that the auto tranny can only reach 300k if you drive like a granny. i think most of us here don't though. my stock auto tranny crapped out on me at 94k so i did a swap then but had to stay auto for the time being.

i have a 94 accord with a H22A in it bolted to a H23 auto tranny and its been doing good so far but im swapping a H22 5 spd in it soon. The only thing that pisses me off is in a long race down the highway. ill be walking someone then they hit 5th. But i drive it like a stick so i can hold the gears just as long until they hit 5th.

just use your auto as if it was stick. put it in 1st, then 2nd, then D3 then D4. its like a 4spd manual tranny.... heh

240,000 miles on my auto tranny. It shifts just as good as it did when I bought it at only 74,000 miles. I change the fluid once a year, and I don't drive my car like I think every stop light must be a race against the guy next to me (Like my brother.) I intent to get 1,000,000 miles out of this car.
