you sure about that?
the 15400-PLM-A02 oil filter fits pretty much every usdm civic made since 1988, and as far as i know it is the same even if it is a jdm b16.

The only filter made for civics is the new 'small' filter. They have the same seal location, so they fit on all civic motors, and the larger pre 2000 filters have been discontinued in order to consolidate parts.

no, your wrong. your probably going off the old oil filter. call the dealership up if you don't believe us. the jdm and usdm use the same oil filter as well as the b-series and k-series.

I am completely correct, and regardless of what kind of store you own or whether or not you "looked it", the information you provided is false. As AutoXer alluded to, Honda somewhat recently switched to a new filter, and it is completely backwards compatible with engines that originally called for the older filter.

good luck when the filters look totally different, bypass valve pressures are different, gaskets same, hole is the same but dont u think honda would use a bigger filter if they could? i think so, they wouldnt spend the time to design a new filter unless it was required. maybe u should call honda before u screw up someones engine

i just picked one up from the dealer on tuesday. the filter are smaller, than the old ones. basically honda is using only one filter on there cars. i wouldn't understand why the dealer would take the time to screw up peoples motors by using one filter. i mean we're talking about honda here, not the fram filters you have in your "so called shop".
since you can't search i took it upon myself to correctly inform you please read:

and that's just 2, maybe if you spent some time searching here instead of your shop, you can give accurate info.

I don't know how to make this any clearer. We are discussing OEM Honda filters here. Honda has a new filter design that is now used for both the current engines and those that previously used the older model.
The links below are to a Honda dealer's website, a dealer that has been in business since 1962 selling and servicing Hondas.

2001-2005 Civic accessories page: http://www.handaaccessories.com/civmaint01.html
Note the first item listed on each page is an oil filter. And, as I've stated, it is the same part number for both model year ranges. Also note that there is a brief description that explains how the older model filter has been discontinued, and this filter, though different in size and appearance, is the replacement model.
