10/21 NASA Midwest Season Finals / New Blood - Road America

What?
The 2006 NASA Midwest Season is drawing to a close, and to celebrate another successful year (and ensure many more to come), NASA along with PIC Performance have put together a limited-time offer for new members and first time participants.
To make this event a real bash, PIC Performance and its affiliate sponsors will be providing contingency prizes and a raffle on both days for participants in Honda Challenge, HPDE and Time Trial classes. Everyone will have a chance to win, and the prizes are guaranteed to satisfy! In addition to the contingency and raffle prizes, drivers will also receive dedicated, one-on-one in-car instruction to show them the ropes and get them comfortable with the track. Afterwards, a thorough de-briefing session will take place where instructors will help diagnose your on-track performance, and show you step by step where to fine-tune your skills. Not to mention the almost overwhelming experience of seeing real-deal race cars wheel-to-wheel racing on a track, the smell of race gas, the roar of the engines, and the feeling of camaraderie that you can only get from a NASA event! You’re in for a heck of a ride at Road America.
Who?
Anyone with a car, a valid driver’s license and the desire to learn to push their cars to the limit in a controlled, safe environment is welcomed to join! NASA is proud to provide a class for every driver, of every car, of ever skill level. So no matter if you’ve never set foot (or wheels) on a track before, or if you’re a seasoned veteran that just hasn’t signed up with NASA yet, this is your chance to see what the excitement is all about!
Where?
Road America is located just 1 hour north of Milwaukee and 3 hours north of Chicago in scenic Elkhart Lake, WI. Host of various motorsports events such as the American Champ Car Series, AMA Superbike Series, American LeMans and many more, Road America is a world class track and facility, making this a once in a life-time opportunity (or more, if you sign-up for next season!).
When?
The 2006 NASA Midwest Series Championships will take place on October 21st and 22nd (Saturday and Sunday). The racing begins bright and early at 8am, and continues all the way until 6:30pm Saturday evening for the Trophy Presentations and one of the legendary NASA Saturday Night dinners, where plenty of food and booze will be provided courtesy of NASA Midwest! And on Sunday, we do it all over again (save for the dinner).
How?
Signing up could not be easier!
1. Sign up wherever you see this flyer advertised
2. Call the NASA Midwest office @ 847.574.8032 for details on how to sign up and pay over the phone with credit car (Visa, MC accepted)
3. Sign up at the track (for you late-comers): but be careful, spots might be sold out!
Make sure you have your forms turned in before 10/01 though, to ensure that you’re not blocked out because the event fills up. Due to the nature of the event and what PIC Performance has put together with NASA, SLOTS ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED and are expected to fill up quickly.
Membership fee: Paid for by PIC Performance. When you register, you will also get a free one-year subscription to Grassroots Motorsports magazine! (This Special Offer Rate only valid for new members)
One day of racing: $189 (Saturday or Sunday, please specify)
Full weekend of racing: $289 (trust us, you will want to stay for 2 days
)PM me here, email, or call 630-364-1412 if you have any questions!

Maybe I will still go and crew for you Chrissy.

Come on Wai! Borrow or steal a car!
Have you taken the head off of your motor? Is it a total loss?

Ha! At Road America it's pretty easy. Even I have time for a cat nap before turn 1, 5 and Canada Corner...
Not quite far enough to break out a newspaper and catch up on current events though.
p.s. the above comment was for Wai, his current block doesn't like the taste of rods, because it spat one out.
p.p.s. see you in 2 weeks.. I found a couple of degrees of front camber, and I'm going for a tuneup, that's about the only tricks up my sleeve for this one. Plus the super-secret aero advantage of wrinkly quarterpanels.

Is there a lot of elevation change at RA, or is it for the most part flat?</TD></TR></TABLE>
There's no rollercoasters or anything like this.
*Front straight starts as a big uphill*, and ends as a gentle uphill. You notice it big time in an automatic Neon, the car will actually slow down for a while approching the start/finish.
Next notable elevation change, *approaching turn 5 is downhill*, with a little bit of a crest in the braking zone, enough to make it fun/interesting.
*From 5 to turn 6 is a big uphill*, with the crest of the hill near the end of braking, just before turn-in.
7 to 8 is downhill but doesn't feel like it much.
Rest is flat-ish, nothing real notable.
Crap, I just noticed the map above had elevation changes.

Tell all your friends! This is a pretty neat package for newcomers. Apparently RA is a high speed track so they'll really be able to let their cars stretch their legs.
I'm gathering up some goodies from our Authorized Dealers to contribute to the raffle (open to everyone) and contingencies for the HPDE and TT classes as well, which afaik hasn't been done yet, so you don't even have to be in one of the wheel-to-wheel series to get something
The more the merrier folks.

Oh and if you have not noticed, this is not just for new people! PIC will still be providing the contingencies for HC, and if you run in HPDE or TT there will be contingencies for you this time as well. Plus, the raffle will be open to everyone.
But the new guys will get first spots in line for the banquet.

I might make the trip from chicago. I have been to RA several several times for go karting events. It would be a nice experience prolly to see some cars.
Anyone know is spectating free or is there a fee. Never been to a NASA event.

AFAIK spectating is free, at least it has been at every event we've been to except for Autobahn (where spectators pay a $5 fee, maintenance or something).
I *always* have a great time at the NASA events, it just doesn't get old IMO. It actually gets better each time you go because you meet new people each time and its cool to see the same familiar face the next time you go, great way to make friends. And, of course, its so easy to strike up conversation with a total stranger if its about something like cars, you can just go on and on. Plus, everyone is pretty friendly.
Where in Chicago would you be heading out from? We could caravan out from here, everyone loves caravans.

oh man I've been waiting for this for a long time.
Finally got some seat time in my car G1 at heartland park and getting some more towards the end of the month at MAM group 2.
woohoo group 3 on this track will be nuts... .. . I'll prolly just stay group 2 though.
See all you other Kswapped H1 runners there. I can't wait to talk around and get some tips from the pros.
I'll be comming from Des Moines IA if anyone wants to caravan from here.
I'll probably be trailoring my car there though

I absolutely agree. I am honored to have had Pic Performance sponsor our ITRCA.com Expo 6. Hopefully, we can do it again!
Hmmmm - I think I need to take a look at what goodies they have for my race car.

I would highly suggest that, Jeff. Their product, support, and service are top notch. Al is one of the friendliest and most supportive people I have ever worked with. I'd recommend the PIC line to anyone looking to get the most out of their craft on track

I vote of confidence from you speaks volumes...I'm running JIC magic suspension currently & I like it. However, several people who made that group purchase got different spring rates than was posted on their package (always good to test!).
If I have any problems - I'll be switching quickly! (Currently 12k front / 14k rear - hard as a brick bat & lov'n it.)
