Default Basics to hooking up an Ipod to a headunit

I have a completely stock 00 acura integra with stock headunit. How would I go about connecting my Ipod to the headunit or aftermarket headunit for that matter?

What should I be looking for? and how much will it cost?

Also I would like the headunit to be able to charge the ipod, thanks.

aftermarket, easiest.

its literally a dock connector cable for my alpine

it charges it, and the cord is only 25 bucks

search. i say you can get a deck and the cord for less then 230

IMO the best way for you to hook up an ipod to your oem radio would be to buy an auxillary adaptor fro a company such as P.I.E. (search google) its an adaptor that plugs into your cd changer port on your headunit, costs about 50 bucks i think. all you need to do is plug the ipod in via rca jacks and you can control from the ipod still. if you want to charge it i would go with the belkin car kit for ipod, its about 30 bucks and is what i use...no complaints. i think you can find all you need at a circuitcity/bestbuy/local audio shop.

i think i remember seeing an adaptor for a bit more money that provides control from your headunit and charges the ipod. IMO i dont like this way because its very akward but go with whichever way you prefer.

p.s. you could take quite a few shortcuts by buying an aftermarket headunit as TanCar said.

good luck man

If you want to keep the OEM HU there are, as has been mentioned AUX input adaptors... http://www.google.com/search?h...ell=1 or as has also been mentioned get an iPod controller HU, Like the Alpine HUs, The newer models use just a cable, older models, and some current models, [carry overs] needed a "black box" Alpine KCA-4201. 94
