Default SPOON CAMS NOW TICKING NOISE???

I JUST FINISHED INSTALLING SPOON STAGE 2 CAMS ON MY GSR SWAP ODB2. I READJUSTED ALL THE VALVES (TWICE) AND NOW WHEN I START THE ENGINE I CAN HEAR A TICKING NOISE. (NOTE, THATS WHY I ADJUSTED THE VALVES FOR THE SECOND TIME) I HAVE HEARD IT BEFORE WHEN IT WAS REALLY COLD OUTSIDE AND IT WENT AWAY ONCE IT GOT UP TO TEMP. CAN ANYONE HELP?

What did you adjust the valves to? You are suppose to adjust them after its been sitting a while, like over night.

I believe its a different spec, since its not oem. That is more then likely your problem.

my skunk2 stage2s call for a lash within oem spec. .008 & .007 mine ticks a fair amount too. and every valve lash is about perfect. im thinkin is the bigger profile on the lobes hiting the rockers harder that are makin in tick louder. lots of people have wondered about this.

Your valve lash may definatly be out of spec now with new cams. Check with the manufacturer.

I've heard lots of complaints of valvetrain noise with aftermarket cams and etc. Seems normal unfortunatly.

I've had good results with the Luacs Oil Stabilizer
(http://www.lucasoil.com/produc...=show )
You usually replace 1/2 to 1 quart of oil with this and it really reduces the noise.
I'm pretty sure they make a synthetic too, if that's what you're running.

My Crower cams used a different valve lash setting than stock, so I'd check with the manufacturer to verify the setting. Mine don't click at all.

its jsut the cams, learn to live with it, my d16 sounded like a damn diesel with the 59300 cam in it, and yes the valve lash was perfect

yeah, my car has a vtec so big i can hear my valve chatter at IDLE!!!!

where the **** do people get their info at?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Everybody knows valves tick and you hear it more on bseries vtec motor and with bigger cams means bigger lobes wich cause the chatter. You should no that unless you drive a stock d-series. If not listen to your motor you will hear the chatter even at IDLE

thanks for all the replies guys. i just tore apart my head ie. rocker ***. and i found a bad loss of motion sensor (just like a lifter) ! you can test them by pushing down on the "lifter" and the one i replaced sort of snapped back up, all the others were smooth and solid. I do understand that there is more valvetrain noise than normal, but this noise really stood out. thanks again HT
