Crank Shaft Washers?
ok, im assembling my bottom end now inside of my car, got new bearings put them in for rods. and now im putting the crank girdle back on. at the end of the crank girdle (closer to cylinder 4 main bearing) there are 2 half moon shims that creat a full circle, i thought the girdle would hold them in place but when i put the girdle on and rotated the crank shaft they fell out. any ideas at what these are and hwo they stay in place. thanks!
thx thx... im assuming the main cap is the one that holds the 3 main bearings into place? i put that back on and rotated the crank and they still fell out?.. maybe i put it on backwards? or can it even go on backwards? thanks!
k so i looked at it. its not on backwards. the thrust washers are to the right of the main caps and they dont hold them in. is it possible that something else holds them in? thanks!
ok, i found out that my friend put it on and tried to make a full circle with the washers that is why they werent working lol, i found out from earl that u put half on one side and other half on other. o well, done now
Make sure that you put the tapered edge in the correct direction...(not backwards) If not bad things can happen. It should be tapered in toward the main cap on each side.
