intake manifold line

what is this part, and is it needed? because when i was removing my manifold it broke into a couple peices.

it is the PCV valve and yes you will need it

That valve has something to do with vacuum, and emmissions as well. The PCV valve is cheap, might as well buy another one to replace the damaged one
