Default I think my clutch went/is going out... help

So i was on the highway to work, and i was in 3rd and went to shift to 4th. I push the pedal in all the way in.. makes a ear shattering scraping noise, so i tried to pull it out of gear it came out, and now wont go back in. Now, If i push the clutch 1/2 way in it will slip in sideways... Its hard to drive it cuz if its halfway in it will engadge with some muscle, if i push the pedal all the way in it will act like the clutch is being slipped and stall.. TIA.

Car is a 1991 Honda civic std, d15ba1, with a 4sp tranny, a eCM stage 2 clutch ithink the previous owner said (dont ask why he put a stage 2 on a stock motor)

Adjust your clutch cable, it stretched and now you aren't disengaging the clutch when you press the pedal in. This is common especially if you have an aftermarket clutch with a stiff pressure plate, or if you have a B series with a cable-hydro conversion.

i would take the tranny out and see if anything if faaked up. you might have thrown a spring from the clutch.

i changed out a clutch in a old *** celica and it was missing 2 of the springs on the clutch pack. dont ask me where they went.. cause they werent in the tranny or the engine.. so faak if i know. but i would take a look and see if the clutch disk is crap. might need a new disc.. and one of the fins on the pressure plate could have gone as well. no telling what could have happened if a bearing went haywire.. take the extra time and look and save yourself the stranded long walk from a highway when it finaly goes all to hell later in a day or so.

hmm if you push the pedal all the way in it acts like it wants to stall the engine. i agree that it must be the release bearing since thats the part that makes contact with the spinning pressure plate when you press the clutch. get a new clutch, a stock replacement, if the previous owner is as stupid as he sounds, and did all his own work then the only conclusion is that the release bearing is super fuxored and needs to be replaced.

that guy that posted about the clutch cable must not have watched the video. those are some nasty noises. u know how to shift without the clutch?

well i loosend the cable, so it wouldnt engadge the clutch till the pedal was all the way to the floor and it seemed to help, then it stoped making noise, so i thought it finally set in, WRONG! lol, i cant get it into 1st gear without putting massive amounts of pressure on the shifter w/ clutch in.
So i decided that I will take the tranny out and examine.. . CLUTCH DUST EVERYWHERE lawl.. Needless to say my clutch is FUBARD, along with the flywheel.. oh well.. JDM d15bvtec is on its way... w/ hydro tranny & LSD
