Default Interested in Alpine, NEED OPINIONS

alright my 2nd kenwood excelon just took a crap on me again, im done with them, ive had the cd player for just over a year and its junk again. anyways, i want alpine, i always have and i was thinking of getting the 9857. i really like the older motorized ones and im not too into the newest models, are there really only 4 different screen savers, plus can you change the button color like the old ones?...does anyone know when the new models will be out? should i just wait til then?...any opinions appreciated.

The new Alpine HU does not allow you to change the color of the buttons, one feature that I wish they still had. But besides that they are great units. I have a 9856 with full speed Ipod cable and I love it. It has 3 sets of pre-outs, blue tooth adapter is available and of course Ai-Net(Aux input).Just ask yourself what features you want in your HU so you know what to look for.

Check ebay for the older models. I'm a big fan of the 2004 models, motorized face, old style face, color changing buttons, 4v pre-out, bunch of other things i like about them. The only thing I like about the 2006 lineup is that you could push in the volume ****.

I have the 9856 with full-speed ipod also and it's great. But that might be the only part i really like. I dislike how the screen is setup but it was only 200 so I can't really bitch about it. I've been thinking about selling it actually.

I am also an Alpine fan, [for as long as there has been Alpine] I currently have the CDA-7893, it is a fully loaded unit with motorized face 2 way x-over built in time correction built in, and built in "high power" 4x27W RMS into 4 ohms, [EIA-517 standard]. There are 12 of these for sale on eBay
You can't go wrong with Alpine 94

I have last years model the 9855 and it is insane there is an easy menu and a Pro menu that lets you tune the hell out of the complete system. Also there is ipersonalize that lets you go online and d/l stuff to the unit. The 9857 probably came out about 4-6 months ago so I dont think any new ones are coming out to soon but I could be wrong. Anyway go with an older model Alpine.

Although there are some on eBay finding a new one will be very hard. 94

I couldn't agree more. And that is why I own the 9835 (IMO one of the best head-unit ever made)
