I have taken my oil pump out to inspect it. Is there a certain way of lineing up the gear of the oil pump with the crank?

 

yea theres a flat spot on the oil pump gear that the crank has also

 

there is a flat on both side of the crank. On the oil pump have a flat spot an a unusual spot. I guess it doesnt matter which way you put it in as long as it fits?

 

It only goes on one way....

do you mean it only WORKS one way, or it only FITS one way? i was wondering the same thing. the pump has two flat sides, one has a semi circle cut into it.
it looked like it would go on either way to me ...?
