My mom's S2000 is for sale......
Why would someone pay 500 less than a brand new S2000 (MSRP) for a used car with 12k miles?
Actually many people are getting 2002's for under MSRP -- and yes, you pay tax even on a used car.
I've got 2 things to say:
1) Yes it is possible to pay MSRP or even below it for a 2002 S2000...
2) You guys are saying who would pay for that car with the price he is asking.. And my question to you is who cares? You aren't interested in it, so why do you feel you need to comment on this vehicle's asking price? Keep your comments to yourselves.

Do you have the full honda body kit and extended warranty?

no i do not have the factory bodykit or the extended warranty, but i did get a brand new car with 7.2 miles on it and some of the nice things a 2002 came with, like one of the best changesfor 2002 is the glass back window IMO. All for 32,400
I was offered 32,180 for a silver at kay Honda, but i didn't like how they treated me so i bought a yellow one at coast honda for a little bit more money because they treated me great even though i am eighteen years old.

Depending on the state you will have to pay tax on a used car upon registration. There is no way around that if you want to have a license plate to drive around with.
Many S2000s are going for less than MSRP, you just have to search around. I paid $500 under in 2000. The extended warranty is around a 800~1000 extra depending on length and deductible. The OEM spoiler, side rakes, and front spoiler are available for less than $1100 (it comes painted in case you were wondering), and if you have 2 hands and basic tools they are pretty easy to install.
A good friend of mine just picked up a silver/red 01 with 5k miles, OEM spoiler for $25k in PA. Your mom's car is probably worth around $26~$27k depending on the buyer.

1- no matter where you live you have to pay tax on all cars...yes you pay the seller the amount of the car and then when you try to registar it...you have to pay your states sales tax...no matter what..
2- it is very possible to get any car under MSRP...how do i know...well my dad runs a honda dealership and my S2K which i sold for insurance reason was only 29100 total....with all honda upgrade parts..

Sorry.
It might not be any of my buisness, but it sounds very over priced... it might be 3k back then, but its 1.1k now, so thats the price.
If you really want to sell if off,you might wanna lower the price a little.... But i understand, you wouldnt want to sell a car at a price that you arent willing to....

let him try to sell it. there might be someone out there that isnt' in the know. I'm sure he is willing to drop the price but if an unsuspecting buyer gets it. who's to blame him for getting a price 99 percent of the population isn't willing to pay.

Before you make a blanket statement make sure you know all the state laws regarding taxes. Otherwise you spread mis-information and make yourself look un-credible.
Oregon does not pay a sales tax on anything. I have purchased many cars out of state and never have paid a sales tax.
As far as his asking price. If you don't like it don't post. If you can find one cheaper somewhere else than buy it. This is a common problem with NSX's as well. People seem to think that if they keep telling you they can find it somewhere else cheaper that you will lower your price. Instead of complaining make him an offer. If he doesn't like it he will tell you to move on. All you are doing is lowering the value of your car and everyone else's by saying how cheap your cars are. Do you think a retailer would ever do this? My car sells for 32k but you can get one down the street for 30k. NO
By the wat Blykins you can shorten your url by typing {url=web address] find it here[/url]
replace the{ with[
