Default Issues with the body shop....

OK, I know a guy that works at a body shop and he is painting my car there after hours. He does great work and all, but After I saw the mirrors today I am not sure. The mirror I saw has a run in it, and is a little light on the underside. I am only paying 800.00 for the job, plus paint, but at the same time I would expect better than that.. I dont know what to say without hurting feelings etc.. Its an EF and its Integra type R yellow. What would you guys do? The peice was primed, painted and cleared already, so I am not sure how he would react if I pointed it out.. The rest of the paint looks superb, but I am one picky SOB. Is one or 2 runs on a car acceptable?
thanks
-Marc

Yellow is usually a color that is hard to find bad spots in. It's the easiest color to paint (hides itself very well).

Your guy must be pretty bad or he is rushing thru. I'm paying a little more then you for a professional deal. Real metal, good paint. I was told the quality won't be awesome, and so should have you for that price.

You know the saying, you get what you pay for...

U said there were runs on the mirror, just pop the mirror off and repaint it. but if he would have toke a little more time he could have sanded out the runs before he cleared it. for 800.00 i would just point out the mirrow and the runs. like just say not to be picky but whats with the run, then point out the fact that ur his advertisment. when people asked who painted ur car he'll want good thing said about his work. Right!

It isnt very noticable, and the rest of the paint is super super clean, I have seen a camero he painted that came out SUPER nice, granted it was his personal car.
Wetsand and buffing should get out a run then?
I chose Yellow hoping that it would hide a lot of the imperfections.

Nobody's perfect, the run can be fixed. You may have to wait for the paint to cure. post pics.

u say it aint noticable and yet it is bad enough to start this thread

paint job no good for that $$

dont worry about his feelings, you wont be driving them around

you are the only one that can say if 1-2 runs are acceptable

be picky, it's a rex after all

yeah true, I want this thing to look as good as possible for the money. I didnt ask for an 800 dollar paintjob, I asked how much it would cost and was told that price. I dont know if he assumed I was on a budget or what.

well that depends on if the run is in the paint or in the clear....if its just your mirror, tell that cat to redo it...if he doesnt, you already know what kinda guy he is,and never go back...most people stand by their work and for something as minor as that would be glad to fix it...
if u got any more questions just pm me...we own a body shop

If it's on the mirror only, take it off sand it all off and paint it black like it should be.

If it were me it would be unacceptable but then again I am a pain in the a..! If its bugging you that much bring it to his attention. its obviously bugging you enough that want other people's opinion. go look at your car and walk around it and act like you just saw it and say " hey did you see this mirror billyjoebob, it looks like its light in paint and has a run "!! Be nice about it because from past experience attitude can get you a long way! For 800 dollars it should be a decent paint job IMO.

no it didnt, someone painted them at some point.

but if you like the look, then rock it. lots of guys do.

but tippy is correct, the moldings and mirrors are always black from the factory.

homeboy should have stopped after he noticed the run. he should have wetsanded the run before he cleared the mirror. if the run was permanent then i think he should have started over. He deserves to do extra work since he proceeded to clear knowing the run was there. everyone knows it's easier to do it right the first time.

post pics.
