Alpine giving daler run around on RADIO CODE!!
My 99 Accord EX Coupe was in for Tranny work and they unhook battery for safety reasons.
The code for radio doesn't work and dealer called Honda and they said give them 3-5 days. WHY?? Anyway now it's been 9 days and they still won't get this solved. I'm ticked for not having my sterieo eqip working. Any ideas why Alpine and Honda Factory keeps putting dealer off.
I've stood right there when they call and they keep saying we'll call you. So it really isn't dealership.

Did you check your glove box for the radio code? It wouldn't make sense to put the security code on the back of the radio. Somebody will steal the radio, put in the code that's on the back, and the radio works. What kind of security would that be?
the code on the back of the radio is the radio serial number. if your dealer doesn't know how to retrieve a radio code from the interactive network, you need to take your car to another dealer, ASAP. do you have the serial number handy? i can try to run it for you right now.

Also, I don't know what Alpine has to do with it, [other then their OEM department makes the HU] it is Honda/Acura that has the code info.
I have never had a problem getting codes for HUs for customers, it happens often when we reinstall an OEM HU because car is being sold or a customer has lost the code, we charge $40 to pull the HU, get the code from the dealer, [Honda or Acura] We always tell the customer how to do it themselves if they want tosave the $40.

02 Accord--Who would steal a factory radio, I guess it is a serial # on back.
Phateless-- Yep got # I emailed it to you.
But when code # punched in it says Call Honda. My dealership(only one in town) called Honda customer satellite center and they told her get together with Service manager and tech.com Today the manager is supposed to talk to area rep
Maybe I expect to much why not just change code numbers and reset with new ones. Is that to much headwork?? I know they won't just replace with another radio, dealership doesn't work that way. Although in this case would be quick solution then they could figure out the problem with old radio.

YEP!!
I've got that but It DOESN"T work.
So now dealership is getting together with Honda rep to see what they should do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Customer suggestions:How about resetting numbers or give me a different radio??
Honda customer sevice suggested calling Chicago dealership where car was bought brand new to see if they have a different number. but I have to send proof that I own car now.

honda gave you instructions to get the radio to flash the code on the screen. try that, and if that number is different from the one you gave me, give me the new number. maybe the radio has the wrong sticker on the back? i would demand that the parts dept. warranty the cd player and get you a new one. this is ridiculous.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is what dealership suggested is that they put wrong sticker on it.
That flash of code number thing didn't work just a C6 comes up whatever that means.
I did tell them just give me a new one but I'm under that GOD DAM Easycare Extended warrenty and all work has to be OK'd! first.
I think I'm going to go back (THIRD TIME) and sit there until it's done. They definetly hate my hubby but at least he gets a fire up under their BUTTS

did you try removing the battery cables to clear the radio? if you enter the wrong code enough times the radio locks itself. do what i suggested, remove both battery cables for about 10 minutes. then, before you try any codes, use that trick to get the serial number to come up on the screen. hopefully it will show up. if it shows up different from the one we've been using, that's the one we need to get our code.
I went to dealership AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
After talking with 2 other dealerships
At my local FRONT RANGE HONDA DEALERSHIP Stinkin service manager said:
"You can't sit here and wait this will take several phone calls and a couple days to figure out."
1) I told him that is bull you guys haven't even tried to fix this for 10 days!!!!!!!!!!
2) I came home pissed as a ##@** called my warrenty people (That's right 1 phone call that took 3 minutes) and they said take it anywhere that is certified and have them call us and we will give them a ref number for the work to be done.
3) Called my mechanic who has been mechanic for 40 years and known about this radio problem all week. he already has me scheduled and is doing the ref # for the work to be done as I type this. for tomarrow morning to get this problem done with.

Now today a person at easy care says this isn't covered.
Yesterday they told me yes it is covered.
I went to Extended Warrenty Department at dealership and they gave me brochure saying what is and isn't covered and it states "Aftermarket stereos and components are NOT covered. This is factory radio. Plus person agrees it should be covered. It came from the factory that way.
EVERYONE MAKE SURE YOUR CODES DO ACTUALLY WORK OR YOUR GOING TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a nightmare this is just over a dang radio. What are they gonna act like over a engine problem or something else more severe.

Does your radio have a tape player or a CD player?
I have a radio/tape player from a 98 Accord. If you want it I'll send it to you for free. Just reimburse me for shipping.

Ask to speak to the service manager and explain that the radio is a factory radio.
Even idiots need jobs and this is what you are now dealing with.
You have gone through the normal channels now start moving up the totem pole. With each move explain to the next level up that the service people below them were unable or unwilling to resolve your problem. Allow a proper amount of time to resolve the issue at each level. Continue on the course until the problem is resolved.
Your car is a 99 you sure its still under warranty?

ok bro, i work for acura, honda same thing , and we have the same problem with tl's not taking code , it kinda sounds like this is u'r problem, so try this disconect ur battery for 10 sec. re-conect and leave ur radio harness conected but remove u'r antenna cable and enter the code. and that should work then re-install antena cable. i dont know but try that, and let me know
The car has radio,CD Player and cassette player. I seriously don't think it is one unit I believe they are seperate.
It's a 1999 Honda Accord EX Coupe.
nsxxtreme: Yes it is under extended warrent until 113,000 some miles I only have 86,000 on the car. and the total easy care states Factory Radio Covered. not aftermarket.
Already gone through chain of command (Service Manager is the one that was to get this fix in motion and left me hanging for 12 days and still hasn't made one phone call)
I'm documenting at ahm.owner link. Complained to customer service at Front Range Honda about Service Manager being lax on this, also honda company.
keenspeed94 I will pass on the antenna cable thing to my mechanic-car is at radio shop as of yesterday morning.
For the record I'm not a bro!

Seems to much of a problem. go buy a aftermarket radio. By the time you keep going back and forth wasting your gas you could of paid for a decient headunit. imo. If not your just going to get the run around.
