96 Accord H22 - weird electrical issue - need assistance
The car has been running flawless for years, so its not related to the swap. Here's the deal.
I can be driving along, and the tach stops working. Everything else is ok, but slowly but surely, it starts to loose electrical power. All gauges quit, then the radio, windows stop working, etc. The car will run though, until the battery dies. I figured I had a dead battery because it would jump start off another car, but as soon as the cables were disconnected, the car would die. Took the battery in and it was charged and tested good. Popped it back in the car and it dove home with no issues, that was last night.
This morning, it cranks fine, drives about 8 miles, and issue happens again. I'm thinking the alternator, but I do not get any alternator light. Could it just not be charging enough, and not giving me a light? Maybe a voltage regulator?
I figured if its the alternator, everything would still work until the batt died.
I figured if it was the battery, the car wouldn't start, but once running, everything would work.
What would have all electrical devices quit first, then the engine die?
HELP!

Change the battery and the alternator. it sounds as if the alternator has dropped dead. when you jump start the car and disconnect the jumper cable the car dies that is indicating that the alternator isn't working. also jumping the car dosen't charge the battery so its up to the alternator to take over when you disconnect the jumpers.
