What should I offer him? I have 6k to spend and I'm getting desperate for a 99-00 hatch. Especially for a white one that's stock with that kinda mileage. It's a good haul for me to go see... close to 200 miles. It's at a dealer. I'm thinking maybe I can convice them to meet me halfway or something. Thanks fellas.

I agree, I'll lowball the hell out of him. He's a dealer... I'm getting way too desperate. If he'll take 6k and it runs good, he's got it.

doubt he will take the 6k even if its over priced...it is a dealer...you will have more luck with a private seller. but you can try anyways

Just call and say you have $6000 cash and you want to buy the car. If he flakes out, then don't go.

I'd call him first and tell em i got six grand and il come pick the car up today.

But i live in lumberton NC right above south of the border on I95 and i got a boy who i think is trying to sell his civic hatch he is going to the national guard. He was building a hell spawn ls/vtec (last time i saw his civic the current ls/vtec was sitting beside his car in our local shop.

yea, overpriced. there is a 00 dx hatch at a dealer in my town, white, lowered on ground control full coilovers, si wheels, 107,xxx miles, 5 spd for 4200 body is decent few little dents.

I mean if thats what you want, try talking them down...

Yeah, I agree with Arch here. I may even start him at 5500. I figure he's expecting someone to finance it at 7,000. Maybe he'll be cool. I'm calling him as we speak.

I talked to a guy at the stealership. He's checking to see if that high price is even correct. He's also seeing if someone is willing to drive an hour or so to meet me halfway. He said I may have to make a deposit for someone driving. The guy was cool. Waiting for a call back with info.

Shipping on a truck is about 5-600. I sold my BMW to someone in TX a while back. He had it shipped.

I bet he's OK with the money but it's a no-go on him meeting you.

DONT FORGET SALES TAX!!!! not to mention tag/title fees, dealer fees, etc.

yeah, they may sell it to you for $6k cash...then you go to fill out the paperwork and they tell you that you owe them another grand in taxes/fees.....

at $6k sale price that car is going to cost you $7200 total.

I bought a 93 hatch from a dealer for $900 cash and it cost me $1403 out the door

yeah, i knew that. I hate buying from dealers, but im getting desperate for a 99-00 hatch. I'll tell him if I can't get out the door for 6k, then I'm not his customer.

When I bought mt 97 hatch 2 years ago, taxes on the price 5200 ended up being like 500 something. Taxes on cars are pretty cheap here in ga. I wonder, since the car is in SC will I pay SC tax or GA tax? since the sale will be to a SC registered dealer/

Oh and get this, it's a new ford stealership. That's why the price is on my roof.

ok, so I got the guy to run all the tax stuff and I told him to see if he could get my the keys for under 6k. He calls me back and says after taxes and all it'll be around 6400. 5800 for the price, 600 for taxes and an "interstate tag". Hell, I can get one of those from a friend who's a used car dealer. Do they really charge for those tags?

BTW i'm not gettng that car unless money comes out of my next bowl movement. Or unless I can talk him down.

The problem is I've been patient for about 2 months... you just dont see em here. But I did talk him down to $5834 out the door after taxes and all. Now i've just got to arrange a $100 deposit for him holding the car (BS). And arrange a ride up there. I'll take it for 5800. If it runs as well as I hope, it's mine.

If you have a car that runs right now, you can afford to be patient until the perfect deal comes along. Cars are not worth so much stress, man. If your spending limit is $6000, $6300 and a long drive is not going to work.

Plus, it's a DX. That ****'s lame.

I have to have a hatch, otherwise i would have bought a coupe a long time ago. I like the style, plus I need all the room for a fighting hobby of mine. I enjoyed the hell out of my black 97 hatch. I know it's slow as ****, but I just want a fun reliable car. Only mods through college are rotas, lowering, done. Once I get some money I'd like to throw a b18 in it. Of course that's after I start my IRA. I got a plan.
